STUDIO ARTS
OIL AND ACRYLIC PAINTING
AMAZING ABSTRACT PAINTING
Regina Stark
All levels
This course will be an exploration in new concepts of
painting using water-based paints. Students will loosen
up and learn freedom of expression, exploring color,
composition and concepts in abstract painting. The color
wheel will be explored as well as intuitive painting. The
instructor will show examples of abstract paintings, with
demonstrations given during each class.

STUDIO ARTS
MAKE YOUR COLOR SING:
OIL PAINTING WET INTO WET

Intermediate levels
This course will teach students how to work in oil while the
paint is open, without waiting to dry. Students will study good
composition, application of color, as well as exploring value,
tone, mood, and light & shade. Students will learn to work
quickly and confidently.

LANDSCAPE PAINTING IN ACRYLICS
Dawn Mill
All levels
Explore techniques to capture the light, color and texture
of the outdoors. Intermediate students will learn how to
take a photographic ideal and transform it into an artistic
composition. Incorporating a limited palette of colors, each
student will create an exciting painting in their own unique
style.

SPRING STUDIO
Kathleen Staiger
Intermediate to advanced levels
This course is part of an ongoing series of studio courses
in which students can get together with others to work
on their individual projects, share ideas, and learn. The
course consists entirely of independent work with individual
assistance and help in problem analysis and solutions.
Demonstrations are given as needed or requested. The course
is open to anyone working in two-dimensional media. This
includes artists in pastel, mixed media, watercolor, oil and
acrylic paint. Students should come prepared to paint. If you
are stuck for an idea, bring some photos. A file of reference
pictures is available to borrow.

PAINTING YOUR LIFE STORY
Mathew Krawcheck
Intermediate to advanced levels
Strong traditions of narrative painting permeate the
history of Art offering artists powerful ways of exploring
personally meaningful subject matter. This course is ideal for
enthusiastic painters wishing to explore the autobiographical
possibilities of painting. Students will compose still lifes
(arrangements of personally meaningful objects) and
tableaux (scenes with posed human figures) as their
personal subjects.

Intermediate and advanced levels
This enjoyable and relaxing course is for those who have had
a beginning painting class. It will help the student progress
and learn more about color, composition and finding their
own style by translating a personal photo or photographs
ACRYLIC PAINTING STUDIO
Elise Carter
Beginner and intermediate levels
The first class will introduce concepts, topics and techniques
from which to choose for projects. Those students wanting
formal instruction will choose topics according to their
personal interests and needs. Topics may include work in
still life, landscape, portraits and composition. Students will
develop their observation skills, brushwork and color mixing.
All instructions will be followed by demonstrations and time
for practice. Those wanting to pursue independent study will
receive personal instruction as needed.
