An Early Morning Adventure
The sunlight woke me up. I was in my
room and it was 7 A.M. I ran down the
stairs, and my mom was making
breakfast. Scrambled eggs, my favorite!
And cereals too! I ate breakfast and
watched the morning news.
“What’s the capital of Mexico” – Mom
suddenly asked. “Mexico City,” I
replied.
I have a big test today.
“Pandemic alert level is rising,” the
news-reporter said. Whatever, I
thought. It’s nowhere near where we
live. I finished my breakfast and it was
7:30.
Better get to the bus stop early, for the
test.
I grabbed my back pack and headed
out the front door. I heard…. shuffling
in the bushes! Not some, a lot! And, I
heard talking. “Let’s wait for the boy to
leave,” said a man. “He’s watching us!
Shhh!” said a woman. “He’s not
leaving,” whispered the man. “Just
shoot,” replied the woman.
Shoot Uh! Oh, these people are
armed. I sped inside and closed the
door.
“Mom!!!, there are armed robbers
outside the house.” My mom picked
up a frying pan. She called the cops,
and told them to hurry. We heard
banging and then hard knocking on the
door.
There was a crack and the door fell
open. From my natural karate instinct,
I barraged the man with punches and
stole his gun. I stomped on it, and saw
the man run out cold. Mom bashed
the woman with the pan.
The robbers were wearing a lot of gold
and gems. Probably stolen, I thought.
The cops arrived, and took the robbers
to the car.
“Thanks for your help!” We have been
chasing these guys for a week,” said one
officer. “You get a $500 reward.” That,
though did excite me. But, I said, “You
guys are a little late.” The officer gave
us our reward, and was off.
I looked at the clock. 9:00!! I was an
hour late!!
“Mom, I need a ride to school.” Mom
drove me there and I went to class.
“What’s your excuse this time,” the
teacher demanded. “Yeah.. see there
were these robbers….”
