student Avanti Mallapur for Ph.D., she worked on reproductive biology & welfare of captive Lion-­‐tailed macaques. <br />

Information wish to share: My work on the behaviour ecology & conservation of the Arunachal macaque in <br />

Arunachal Pradesh and the macaque communities of Assam has only just began. I intend to ultimately work on the <br />

field biology and conservation of all the Indian macaques with an aim of understanding their comparative sociology <br />

and evolution. <br />

To be kept abreast of Indian primatology to be able to meet other primatologists, to forge research & conservation <br />

collaborations and work in a coordinated fashion to save & study <strong>South</strong> <strong>Asian</strong> <strong>Primate</strong>s. <br />

<strong>Primate</strong> studies guidance: One student is working for Ph.D. primates species Capped langur under my supervision. <br />

Other primate projects: 1. Feeding behaviour: Food preference, time budgeting; 2. Social behaviour: Mother infant <br />

relations; 3. Reproductive behaviour: Mating pattern, copulatory pattern, Male/female interactions during breeding <br />

period; 4. Anthropogenic threats to the species. In Arunachal Pradesh from 2000 onwards. <br />

Publications: Special publications has been made on impact of Ethno zoological activities on conservation of Capped <br />

langur. This study has been published in Journal of Nature Conservation. <br />

Information wish to share: Some of the rare observations on feeding and parturition has been observed and has <br />

published in international journals such as Folia Primatologica & <strong>Primate</strong>s.
