<strong>Primate</strong> research & species of special interest: My current research interest is concentrated around the distribution <br />

of Macaca sinica – All subspecies, Semnopitheus priam thersites, Trachypithecus vetulus -­‐ All subspecies and Loris <br />

tardigradus -­‐ All subspecies, and their role as prey species in the diet of the Sri Lankan leopard. <br />

<strong>Primate</strong> studies guidance: Yes, Field instructor and teaching assistant for a 3 rd year undergraduate course in <br />

“<strong>Primate</strong> Ecology & Behaviour” conducted by the Florida State University in a Panamanian field station, Central <br />

America. 1998-­‐1999. <br />

Field training of students and volunteers under Wolfgang Dittus at his field station in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. 1996, <br />

Summers 2000-­‐2003. <br />

List of field or museum studies of primates: 1. Smithosonian Institution <strong>Primate</strong> Project. Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka-­‐<br />

Macaca sinica sinica in home range, diet, aggression, nursing inducement in 1996 and Summer of 2000-­‐2003. <br />

2. Semnopitheus priam thersites as a prey species of the Leopard. Ruhuna (Yala) National Park, Sri Lanka in <br />

Predator/Prey relations from 2001-­‐2002 July. <br />

3. All primate species in Sri Lanka in association as prey species to the Leopard and distribution, 2001-­‐Current. <br />

4. <strong>Primate</strong> refuge and sanctuary of Panama – Reintroduction and monitoring of 5 species of primate on group <br />

interaction, adoption and habitat adaption from 1998-­‐2000 March. <br />

Experience / Expertise in captive maintenance / Breeding of primates: I worked at and helped run the re-­introduction<br />

of 5 species of new world <strong>Primate</strong>s in Panama (on a chain of Islands in lake Gatun) at the International <br />

<strong>Primate</strong> Refuge & Sanctuary of Panama. <br />

Species: Spider Monkey/White-­‐throated Capuchin/Mantled Howler/Panamanian Tamarin. <br />

Publications: Sri Lanka: An ecological destination – Exploring an islands potential 2000 USAID and Institute of Policy <br />

Studies & J.E. Austin FNC publications-­‐Colombo. <br />

Information wish to share: Although my current interest is focused on the Sri Lankan Leopard my interest and study <br />

of Sri Lanka primates continue especially in relation to distribution. <br />

A good forum for communication between field scientist/researchers and other scientists. Awareness of what other <br />

researcher are studying and their findings. Sharing of ideas.
