Application:<br />
• The pressure reducing valve EN-DRV is designed for water systems.<br />
The device reduces and stabilizes automatically the outlet pressure at the set value. It effectively prev<strong>en</strong>ts<br />
damages that can be caused by pressure increase. The pressure reducing valve EN-DRV reduces the water<br />
consumption.<br />

Without flow :<br />
The spring, in relation with the size of the diaphragm,<br />
helps the downstream pressure to push the<br />
diaphragm upwards.<br />
The obturator is closed.<br />
The pressure is maintained at the calibrated value.<br />
With flow :<br />
The force of the diaphragm operates against the<br />
force of the adjustm<strong>en</strong>t spring.<br />
The str<strong>en</strong>gth of the spring moves downwards the<br />
obturator, allowing the water to pass. If the outlet<br />
pressure and therefore diaphragm force fall because<br />
water is drawn, the greater force of the spring<br />
causes the op<strong>en</strong>ing of the valve.<br />

Features and b<strong>en</strong>efits:<br />
- The balancing principle:<br />
EN-DRV range is based on the balancing of two opposing<br />
forces:<br />
➪ the str<strong>en</strong>gth of the inlet pressure towards the closing of<br />
the seat, and on the top of the piston,<br />
➪ the equal surface area of the upper side of the piston<br />
and for the obturator.<br />
Comp<strong>en</strong>sated seats<br />
With this principle of comp<strong>en</strong>sated seats, the set pressure<br />
is maintained constant, ev<strong>en</strong> wh<strong>en</strong> there is an important<br />
inlet pressure fluctuation.<br />
- The pressure set is maintained at a constant level:<br />
• over-pressure damages are avoided,<br />
• lower flow noises in the installation,<br />
• water consumption is reduced.

- Outlet pressure indicator:<br />
The pressure reducing valve EN-DRV is equipped with<br />
an outlet pressure indicator (see fig. 1) that displays the<br />
set pressure. These 2 set point scales are located on<br />
each side of the valve, so that the pressure indicator is<br />
always visible.<br />
As a result, an additional pressure gauge is not fully<br />
necessary.<br />

- High corrosion resistance:<br />
The corrosion resistance in particular is guaranteed for all used materials. The housing is made of dezincification resistant<br />
brass (DZR).<br />
- Unique filtering system:<br />
The high capacity inspectable filter cartridge can be unscrewed without using special tools (which is not the case of<br />
others solutions available on the market).<br />
Unlike other pressure reducing valves, the transpar<strong>en</strong>t bowl is NOT the container of debris. Debris are blocked into a<br />
special transpar<strong>en</strong>t 3 legs storage.<br />
This operational principle provides many advantages :<br />
➪ wh<strong>en</strong> a draw-off outlet is op<strong>en</strong>ed on the water system, the debris are NOT into the flow, this does not affect the quality<br />
of the water,<br />
➪ the flow capacity is not reduced or disturbed by the amount of debris as they are stocked into a storage,<br />
➪ the low pressure losses of EN-DRV series are guaranteed whatever the level of clogging.<br />
The transpar<strong>en</strong>t filter cartridge (storage and bowl) can be visually checked and easily removed for cleaning and maint<strong>en</strong>ance<br />
work.<br />

Fitting instructions :<br />
• The pressure reducer must be installed by qualified plumbers in accordance with the instructions giv<strong>en</strong> by the<br />
Installation & Maint<strong>en</strong>ance manual in the box, and following curr<strong>en</strong>t local regulations.<br />
• The pressure reducer can be installed in either horizontal or vertical pipework, betwe<strong>en</strong> two isolating valves<br />
upstream and downstream. Do not install the valve upside down. For the model with transpar<strong>en</strong>t bowl filter EN-<br />
DRV/F, it can only be installed in horizontal position with transpar<strong>en</strong>t bowl downwards.<br />
• The device must be installed in an accessible area that is large <strong>en</strong>ough for maint<strong>en</strong>ance and to prev<strong>en</strong>t it getting<br />
submerged by any accid<strong>en</strong>tal flooding and to avoid the pressure reducer being damaged by frost.<br />
• During installation it is necessary to note the direction of flow as indicated by the arrow on the body of the device.<br />
Maint<strong>en</strong>ance :<br />
The pressure reducer is a safety device and therefore requires periodical inspection. <strong>Watts</strong> <strong>Industries</strong> recomm<strong>en</strong>ds<br />
that the EN-DRV should be inspected at least once a year.<br />
- Test : 1 – turn off the outlet shut off valve,<br />
2 – with a manometer, check the pressure on the outlet side with no flow (gauge plug 1/4” is fitted on the<br />
device),<br />
➜ if pressure slowly rises, th<strong>en</strong> go to the maint<strong>en</strong>ance below.

Maint<strong>en</strong>ance of the cartridge:<br />
- Cleaning and/or replacing the cartridge : the modular concept of the cartridge allows an easy exchange wh<strong>en</strong><br />
installed:<br />
1 – Close the shut off valves on the inlet and outlet.<br />
2 – Remove the upper cover of the cartridge by unscrewing it at its base (hexagonal design),<br />
the upper cover is integral with the internal cartridge (modular cartridge system).<br />
3 – Clean and check the seals and the filter of the cartridge (filter only for models EN-DRV<br />
and EN-DRV/R).<br />
Screw the cartridge back into the brass body.<br />
4 – The modular cartridge can be replaced with a new one (for models EN-DRV<br />
and EN-DRV/F) by simply screwing a new spare into the body.<br />
The new cartridge may require setting if needed<br />
(please refer to “Installation and commissioning”).<br />
5 – Slowly op<strong>en</strong> the shut off valves on the inlet and outlet.<br />
Clean the filter of the cartridge<br />

Maint<strong>en</strong>ance of the filter:<br />
- Cleaning the high capacity filter for EN-DRV/F with transpar<strong>en</strong>t bowl :<br />
1 – Close the shut off valves on the inlet and outlet.<br />
2 – With a hexagonal key, unscrew the transpar<strong>en</strong>t bowl under the EN-DRV/F (hexagonal internal shape).<br />
3 – Remove the filter, clean it and replace it back into position.<br />
4 – Lightly grease the O’ring and the thread of the bowl.<br />
5 – Screw filter bowl back into place.<br />
6 – Slowly op<strong>en</strong> the shut off valves on the inlet and outlet.<br />
