Stay tuned! s Four Support Our Senior Programs Here are just some of the benefits we offer to those age 60 and over: Seniors for Seniors : Adoptions fees are waived for animals age 5 and older. Other Adoption Discounts : 20 percent discount for seniors who adopt an animal younger than 5 years. Gracie’s Adoption Center Retail Store Discounts : 20 percent off items in our shelter retail store. Dog Training Class Discounts : Take six one-hour dog obedience classes for only $49 (regular price: $95)! Private Animal Behavior Consult Discounts : Need immediate help with your dog’s behavior issue A private consultation gives you and your dog one-on-one attention to address your dog’s behavior issue(s) and any applicable training to help resolve your particular situation. By appointment only. One hour for $49 (regularly $60). Behavior Helpline : This free service offers assistance with dog and cat behavior issues. Calls are reviewed and returned within 48 hours Tuesday through Saturday. Love on Loan : Do you live in an active seniors community or have a friend in a nursing facility who would benefit from a visit with a pet Pet therapy has been proven to reduce stress! … 10 gifts for the animals x howard gold/pawprint productions Five Attend Camp Kindness Our popular Camp Kindness features games, crafts, educational guest speakers and opportunities for hands-on time with the SPCA’s adoptable puppies and kittens. “The Sacramento SPCA has offered Camp Kindness since 2002,” says Dee Dee Drake, humane education manager. “This year was our most successful ever, with more than 150 campers attending during the summer. And we expect to be even bigger in 2011!” Our day camps are offered for children and teens ages 7–9, 10–12 and 13–15. Look for applications for our summer 2011 week-long sessions on our website on April 15. Special one-day sessions of Camp Kindness are offered during the winter and spring school holidays. z Six Go Back to School with a Dog Training Class Our basic beginner six-week class will teach you how to be a leader to your dog so that he will trust and respect you, and listen to what you ask of him. We’ll cover mental and physical exercise needs, and you’ll learn to teach your dog the following: not to jump on you; to respond to his name; and to sit, lay down, stay, come, walk on leash politely, wait at doors, and shake. Already know the basics Polish your skills in our intermediate class. You can even take the Canine Good Citizen test at the SPCA! We also offer special classes just for seniors at a discounted rate. Come train with us at our shelter or at the Sacramento County shelter on Bradshaw Road.
