that selecting our winners was challenging.
If you missed this year’s contest, it’s not too
late to share your love! Please e-mail your photo
entries—and a little story on your furry or feathered
friend, if you’d like—to lkirrene@sspca.org. Send
high-resolution photos (at least 300 ppi) if possible.
We’re always looking for wonderful photos of SPCA
alumni to feature on our website and other marketing
materials. If your is selected you will receive an
assortment of SPCA logo gear. We look forward

Bryon P. Steiner and “Coco”
“On September 8, 2007, I brought home
Coco, a very frightened six-month-old
Weimaraner mix who was desperately
in need of a good home. For the
next several months, Coco and I spent
a great deal of time learning about
each other. While I spent hours in the
library reading books on dog training,
Coco was learning how to adjust to her
new environment and trust her new
owner. We went for daily walks, played
fetch, went backpacking, and practiced
her dog training almost every single
day. With a lot of hard work on her part
(and patience on mine) Coco has since
become one of the most well-adjusted,
well-mannered, and highly trained
dogs you could ever meet—not to mention
one heck of a bird dog! Now, three
years later, I look back and think how
much she and I both have changed, and
how lucky we are to have each other.”
