Meow! Four of the cats found their way to O’Neal’s home through well-meaning friends. “I’ve never had to go out and try to find a cat for myself,” she says. “They just seem to find me. All my friends know that I’m a cat lover, and I get these phone calls where they say, ‘We have this cat...’.” The fifth cat, Daisy, arrived in a different fashion. “We named her Daisy because she just sprang up in the bushes in the backyard,” says O’Neal. “She was a stray, and of course we fed her. Now she’s here to stay.” O’Neal has been a longtime supporter of the Sacramento SPCA, contributing countless hours hosting events and promoting the organization throughout the region. The reason for her enthusiasm is simple. “The thought of all those unwanted animals just breaks my heart,” she says. “The least I can do is give back to the animals for all that they’ve given to me.” “The SPCA is very fortunate to have someone as caring and influential in the community as Kitty supporting us and our animals,” says Executive Director Rick Johnson. “Kitty is always available and willing to support all of our events. It’s always a pleasure to have her here. I really enjoyed having Kitty help me give a guided tour of the SPCA to Betty White. Betty kept trying to Continued from page 3 >> get her to take home another cat, but Kitty kept saying that her household was already full!” That full house ensures that O’Neal has achieved her lifelong goal of sleeping while covered with cats.
