Why CVT?<br />
To make optimal use of your engine power the best<br />
offered option is to use an automatic transmission with<br />
a stepless shifting mechanism or <strong>Continuously</strong> <strong>Variable</strong><br />
<strong>Transmission</strong>. Increased fuel economy, ultimate driving<br />
comfort, maximum power, continuous smooth acceleration<br />
and more driving fun are the major advantages<br />
of the CVT transmission system.<br />
The CVT working principle<br />
A CVT consists of an electronically controlled and oilpressure<br />
supported variator. The variator consists of a<br />
set of pulleys (primary and secondary) and a high alloy<br />
steel pushbelt. The pushbelt is the heart of the CVT<br />
and forms the indispensable link between the vehicle’s<br />
engine and the driving wheels. The engine’s power is<br />
transferred from the primary pulley to the secondary<br />
pulley by pushing the CVT belt. By changing the width<br />
of the pulleys an infinite number of ratios can be<br />
established.<br />
The <strong>Bosch</strong> pushbelt consists of two ring packages of<br />
9 or 12 rings each and approximately 400 elements of<br />
24 or 30 mm width.<br />
