Dear Friends:
This Saturday, Bernards Township celebrates Charter Day.
While the etiology behind this day is rooted in the signing of
the historical charter establishing the township, it has become
a day in which the civic, political, multicultural and religious
organizations converge on the town square to celebrate our
unity. It’s a wonderful time for the children as well—with all
types of rides at Oak Street School, concession stands along
South Finley, Henry and West Oak Streets and representation
from our police, fire and EMS departments. We take pride in
our history—in our roots which penetrate the era of the
Revolutionary War and how, over the course of 251 years, we
are a family-oriented township with good schools, safe
neighborhoods and an openness to improving the forty square
miles which we’ve come to call “home.” Happy Charter Day!
After several years of coordinating the music for the teen
liturgies, Kathy Wazilewski is stepping down. Her son is
graduating from high school and, as he begins a new
educational chapter, Kathy would like to be free to pursue
other interests. I’ve known Kathy and Charles since I was a
relatively newly-ordained priest in Bernardsville twenty years
ago—and they were very involved in youth ministry,
especially, Antioch. I also had the pleasure of teaching their
son, Christopher, French for two years at St. James School.
But time stops for no one, our children grow up and move on,
so I can appreciate Kathy’s reasons for passing the baton to
Troy DiLorenzo, a life-long parishioner who is a member of
the Liberty Corner Fire Department and recent graduate of
Rutgers University. I know that you join me in thanking Kathy
for the time that she has given to cultivating the musical
talents of our teens, both instrumental and vocal—and Troy
for saying “yes” to carrying on this highly-esteemed ministry.
Sincerely,
Fr. Glenn
Dear St. James Friends,
THANK YOU
I want to thank all of you who attended the Beach Party
Fundraiser or made a donation to benefit our family. The
PRAYER, LOVE and FINANCIAL SUPPORT that has been
sent by you folks can only be described as sent from the
Heavens. Your love can only be described as "unconditional".
What an HUGE help this is to us when everything in life
seems so complex. Except, that is, the love being sent from
our Lord through you. A bigger help than one could imagine.
All of your love is guiding my family and I through these
challenging times. Your actions and prayers mean more than
words could ever describe.
On another note, as I continue my chemotherapy treatments I
am asking for continued prayers. I continue to ask God,
Mother Mary and all of the Angels in Heaven for their
healing powers. So, I'm asking the same from all of you.
Once again, thank you to all of you for the prayers, support
and love. You will never realize what a positive impact your
prayers and financial support are doing to keep my mind
focused on the goal of getting healthy and rejoining the
community as a participant of offering good will to others
rather than being a recipient. I know I'll get there and I'll be
proud to say that it's because of all of you that I am able to
share my testimony of once experiencing a tragic illness and
having overcome it by the love of God's servants... EVERY
SINGLE ONE OF YOU!
Thank you and Blessings to all of you. You all are amazing!
