Introduction<br />
The Biomedical Standards eXchange <strong>2012</strong> aims to showcase the benefits of implementing <strong>biomedical</strong> <strong>standards</strong><br />
that will help organisations improve productivity and enhance quality of their products and services. At this seminar,<br />
technical experts will share <strong>Singapore</strong>’s participation in various international standardisation (ISO) activities in the<br />
field on Clinical Laboratories Testing & In-vitro Diagnostic Test System, Implants for Surgery or Cosmetics through<br />
various breakout sessions. This seminar also brings perspectives from an organisation that has benefited from the<br />
implementation of <strong>biomedical</strong> <strong>standards</strong>. An overview on the existing and forthcoming Cell Therapy Regulation will<br />
also be shared by Health Sciences Authority at the eXchange.<br />

Who is Biomedical Standards Committee (BMSC)<br />
The Biomedical Standards Committee (BMSC) aims to support the <strong>biomedical</strong> and health clusters in <strong>Singapore</strong> by encompassing the entire value chain<br />
from basic research to clinical trials, product/process development and full-scale manufacturing. It covers areas such as the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology,<br />
medical devices and diagnostics segments.<br />
Who is SDO<br />
The Standards Development Organisation at <strong>Singapore</strong> <strong>Manufacturing</strong> Federation (SMF-SDO) was appointed on April 2011 by SPRING <strong>Singapore</strong>,<br />
the National Standards Body, to administer the standardisation programme for the <strong>biomedical</strong>, food and general engineering & safety sectors under the<br />
respective Standards Committee namely the Biomedical Standards Committee (BMSC), Food Standards Committee (FSC) and General Engineering &<br />
Safety Standards Committee (GESSC).
