i. Toni Hoehn—Deputy Director of Community Development-RLT Coordinator
1. Berlinberg: This is a ratification process. I make appointments and hire
people and then they come to senate for question and answer. Toni is
up for the Deputy Director of Community Affairs - RLT position. She is a
senior speech communication student. She is a dream project mentor.
Any questions?
a. Question and Answer
i. Shank: What made you interested in this postion?
ii. I am a communications major and I’ve always had a
passion for education and leadership. I’d like to help
people find their voice as well.

. Discussion and Debate:
i. Kardavani: I know Toni from the Dream project and she
is extremely compassionate and passionate about other
people. She would be an outstanding RLT leader
ii. McCaleb: She will be working in my department. I
would highly encourage a yes vote and we are very
excited to have her on our team. I have worked with
her before and she is highly dedicated.
c. Vote:
i. 17-1-5
c. SFRB—Green Book Page Reference 16 and 30
1. Roberson: There are a lot of work schedule conflicts with Wednesday
get ratified
1. Deputy Director of RamRide. I want to see the process of how are fees
are distributed
iii. Kristen Scheirman—Voting Member
1. I was interested in seeing how funds are allocated. I am a Senator in
Intra-University
1. Sorry for my lab. I’d really like to be a part of this board and help with
student fees.
i. Gutiarrez: What lab?
ii. Harris: Cell biology
1. Discussion and Debate:
a. Wolfe: I think he shows great
dedication that he came over here even
after lab. He could have put it off till
next week and gone home. I think we
should vote for him.
b. Vote: 17-0-6
b. Question and Answer:
***Swearing in of Robert Harris

***Swearing in of Toni Hoehn
i. Harries: How many positions are still open?
ii. Roberson: Well this year we have associate members,
so the positions are infinite, but I would like to see 20
voting members.
iii. Harries: Kellen, will you have enough time to make
SFRB?
iv. Wittkop: Yes – Monday night I do not have any time
conflicts with court and I’m glad to be part of this.
v. Roberson: This is the first year we have representation
from all 3 branches
c. Discussion and Debate:
i. Roberson: I want to reiterate how important it is they
get ratified tonight. It’s rare to have all 3 branches
here. Dr. Ellis is here – he can reiterate this. We think
that we have found the formula for success this year
d. Vote:
i. Sandora:
1. Vote: 19-0-5
ii. Scheirman:
1. Vote: 19-0-5
iii. Wittkop
1. Vote: 19-0-5
VIII. Judicial Reports
a. Wittkop: AUHB has started its trainings. We also set up a new meeting time since
people have had conflicts. We have signed 2 members to a committee so far – Matt and
John. I am doing SFRB.
IX. Senator Reports
a. Shaughnessy: Those of you who were here in the spring, we passed a resolution creating
the Smoking Ordinance Review Committee – I’m going to be holding an info session the
29 th at 5. The purpose is to get student opinion and go into more depth about what the
committee was designed for.
b. Eden: The committee on Internal Affairs will be meeting Thursday at 6. I’m only going to
hold meetings when we have legislation – I’ll send out an email. It’s in your job
description to serve on one internal and external committee. You can use this as one.
Give me your email address. We will for sure have one next Thursday. Get in touch
with me if you are interested.
c. Shank: Name placards – If you are an Associate Senator, I would love to get you a name
placard. It makes it easier. If you don’t have one and need one, please come see me
and let me know. My contact information is on the web. When you leave, make sure

you leave them here. Also – if you don’t have a Green Book, we can provide you one.
Please make sure you look after it and bring it to each meeting. The other thing is I was
hoping to get more senate involvement on RamRide and Positive Impact – RamRide is a
lot of fun and it’s more fun when you do it alongside somebody you are acquainted
with.
X. Associate Senator Reports
a. Seeing None
XI. Executive Reports
a. Sandora: Positive Impact was this weekend and we had one group and several
volunteers from ASCSU. It went really well. We need volunteers for Thursday and
Saturday for RamRide specifically this week.
b. Jackson: I can answer all questions you have about finances. Everything is going great.
SFB is going well – they’re new criteria is interesting so go check it out. I want to remind
you that senate has a budget of around $1500. Come to me if you have any questions.
Last year we did a senate outreach event at the bowling alley. It was a lot of fun and a
great way to meet constituents.
c. Brogdon: Student Services had the opportunity to partner with RDS so we could learn
the fight song in sign language. Everyone stand up and try it. Grill the Buffs – Friday –
pep rally starts at 10:45. We are also trying to get something else going at 10:45. If you
signed up, I sent out a list of when you are volunteering. If you are interested in
volunteering, come in the office tomorrow. Wear closed toed shoes, a short-sleeved
green shirt, pants, and long hair must be pulled back.
i. Ball: The time on the list for when I signed up was wrong
ii. Brogdon: Please come see me and I will fix that
iii. Shank: Are you aware that everyone’s numbers were sent out on that sheet?
iv. Yes, we considered it a problem at first, but we realized that that information is
available on the CSU website since we are a public university, so it wasn’t an
issue.
b. Huntoon: I’m chairing the External Affairs Committee. We will be meeting Tuesday at
c. Eden: I forgot to mention my meetings will also be held in the ASCSU office.
XIV. Old Business
a. Seeing None
XV. New Business
a. Bill #4102—Green Book Reference 27-28
a. Berlinberg: I have a bill here to redefine elections manager
positions. They organize the elections committee. We want to

change some things. Right now the elections manager is unable
to serve in executive or judicial branch the year after they are
the elections manager. We would like to change that.
2. Question and Answer:
a. Ball: What made you want to change it?
b. Berlinberg: There is no specific reason – it just doesn’t make
sense to restrict someone from working the following year.
Typically the elections manager puts in a lot of time and
resources. Theoretically if they wanted to return to the
position, they would be great.
c. Shaughnessy: Is it a paid position?
d. Berlingerg: Yes - $1000 from the date of hire to the date of the
reading of the elections results.
e. Eden: Why is this in place?
f. Berlinberg: It’s so the newly elected members can’t take that
elections manager and put him in a higher director position the
next year. To me it just doesn’t make sense to restrict the
elections manager.
g. Berlinberg: I request that this get sent to all committee, and not
see discussion and debate tonight, but take it to committee to
discuss and then come back.
h. Gutiuerrez: Is Andrew Ives interested?
i. Berlinberg: No this bill was a recommendation in his term last
year
j. Harries: In the 3 rd whereas clause, I guess sometime we will
have to hire someone without experience. Do you mind if we
change that?
k. Berlinberg: Not at all – I was just saying that we eliminate that
learning curve if someone is rehired in the same position
3. Discussion and Debate:
a. Shaughnessy: I think it might be appropriate to put “beneficial”
instead of “vital” in the 3 rd clause.
b. Eden: Unanimous consent to send this to all 3 committees.
c. Shaughnessy: Point of information: How do we deal with
committee changes if this goes to all 3?
d. Shank: There are a lot of options.
b. Bill #4103—Green Book Reference 23-24
a. Berlinberg: This one has an interesting story. Rachel and I got
elected and we had a tough time figuring out this 10.5% payroll.
We questioned whether the Administrative Assistant and the
Front Desk Staff’s salaries are included in that 10.5%. It’s kind
of vague, we just wanted to set it up so non-ratified positions

are not part of that and that is clarified. We need to define
what a non-ratified position is. The only thing we could come
up was administrative support positions. They report to the
Admin assistant, not anyone else. I look to see if you want to
reword any of that. Another question was whether our
contracts are considered part of the budget, and it is included in
the total allocated budget.
2. Shaughnessy: Your current total budget was 2 million? What is the
current total for the non-ratified positions?
3. Berlinberg: Student payroll is $128,000 and front desk is 12,000 and
admin assistant is 43,000. We are getting closer to the 10.5% bar. We
want to make sure future administrations can do what they want. If you
want to change the 10.5% that’s fine. We toyed with 12% but I
ultimately decided not to change anything.
ii. If this could go to all 3 committees, that would be good. It’s not as important as
the other one, but it would be good to have it be seen.
1. Shank: I want to remind the body of the process of constitutional
amendments. This will require a second reading.
2. Eden: Unanimous consent to send this to all three committees.
XVI. Announcements
a. Eden: I just realized that I will not be here this Thursday or Friday. So for this first
meeting, I will move it to 7 on Tuesday. Sorry that’s a tough time to meet. The
committee of Internal Affairs will meet regularly on Thursdays, but next week only will
be Tuesday at 7.
b. Berlinberg: The Fall Address is on The Oval tomorrow. It’s the state of university
address. Come by and get free food. The ASCSU Alumni council keeps tabs on what we
are doing and provides great advice for us. Every year during homecoming, we have an
ASCSU alumni event in the upper level of the solarium. We mix and mingle and get to
know people. Next Tuesday, we will be doing a call-a-thon for current students to call
alumni to invite them to the alumni event the 30 th . About 5 alumni members will be
there Tuesday.
c. Harries: Since we have 2 pieces of legislation, it’s important that we all attend a
committee meeting to make the process go a lot quicker. The more people we have the
easier it is going to be to get through this legislation.
d. Roberson: During this meeting, the ex elections manager sent out an email to the list
serve. Senate always gets overlooked and I would like someone on that task force
because it is important for all of you and will impact you. Seek myself or Andrew or
Andy. Pacesetters are due Friday – we have extended the deadline. It’s a big deal. We
are hoping to get former President Yates involved because the money you will be
getting is from him. I have had 0 senate applications this far.
i. Roche: Who are we playing this year?
ii. Roberson: San Jose

iii. Ball: Where are the apps?
iv. Roberson: Taylor can get them
v. Shaughnessy: Do we need a letter of reference?
vi. Roberson: It’s recommended. It can be one from your peers.
e. Roberson: I want to reiterate the call-a-thon. I can guarantee that most of the alumni
were senators. Seeing senators there will have them more interested.
f. Shank: If you are on a committee make sure to go. If you are not on one, get on one as
soon as you can. Potts Caucus – after every meeting, we go to CB & Potts to wind down.
A lot of times senate can get pretty heated. It’s always good to get together after the
meeting. I will be attending. Yay box – it sits on the front desk during the week. If you
see something during the week, write a yay to that person. I take care of it in
announcements. After roll call, we bring everybody up front who had a recent birthday,
to sing to them in the worst way possible. Then we move immediately into the fight
song.
