2007 Sept- May 13, 2011: Joint Director, CIET, NCERT. Central Institute of<br />

Educational Technology is an apex institute in the field of Educational<br />

Technology. Responsibilities include planning programmes related to<br />

educational technology field in the form of training, research, development and<br />

extension. CIET is expected to provide leadership in the field of educational<br />

technology (including ICT) for facilitating learning. More than 200 persons<br />

(faculty and Production, Engineering and Administrative staff) work in CIET.


1997-Sept 2007: Professor and Head, Department of Educational<br />

Technology, <strong>SNDT</strong> Women‟s <strong>University</strong>, Mumbai. <strong>SNDT</strong>U is India‟s First<br />

Women‟s <strong>University</strong> which has been rated with Five Star by the National<br />

Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India. Responsibilities<br />

included Planning academic activities for the academic programmes run by the<br />

Department, develop new programmes/courses, conduct and guide research,<br />

undertake development projects.<br />

2000-2003: Director, Centre of Education, <strong>SNDT</strong> Women‟s <strong>University</strong>,<br />

Mumbai. The Centre consisted of 4 Post-Graduate Departments (viz.<br />

Educational Technology, Education, Guidance & Counselling and Language<br />

Teaching). Responsibilities included coordinating and directing activities of all<br />

four departments, budgeting, and correspondence with the <strong>University</strong><br />

Authorities etc. (mainly managerial and administrative work). This was an<br />

added responsibility apart from the post of HOD, Dept of Educational<br />

Technology.<br />

2005, Jan-Aug and 2000-2001: Director, Centre for Distance<br />

Education, <strong>SNDT</strong> Women‟s <strong>University</strong>, Mumbai. Responsibilities included<br />

Planning ODL Programmes for women, development and dissemination of Self<br />

Learning Material for various programmes offered by the Centre through<br />

Distance mode to over 12000 students spread over 3 states of India.<br />

1986-1997: Reader (Associate Professor) and Head, Department of<br />

Educational Technology, <strong>SNDT</strong> Women‟s <strong>University</strong>, Mumbai. Responsibilities<br />

included teaching at M.Ed. (Master in Education) level, planning and<br />

conducting curricular activities of the department, offer a postgraduate diploma<br />

in educational technology, development of teaching learning media, conducting<br />

research, organizing training programmes, workshops, conferences in the field<br />

of educational technology.<br />

Worked in the field of Open and Distance Education in various capacities.<br />

Worked as a Director, Centre for Distance Education at <strong>SNDT</strong> Women‟s<br />

Have developed several Learning Modules for various Open Universities such<br />

as Indira Gandhi National Open <strong>University</strong>, YC Maharashtra Open <strong>University</strong><br />

Contributed significantly as a 3-member committee to give final shape to the<br />

Focussed Group Report.<br />

Have developed curricula of Educational Technology at B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil.<br />

levels. The new and innovative programme (Master of Educational Technology-<br />

Computer Applications- METCA) is unique Master level programme developing<br />

Instructional Designers for e-learning. <strong>SNDT</strong>WU is the only <strong>University</strong> in India<br />

which offers such a programme.<br />

Conceived, designed and assisted in development of Educational interactive<br />

multimedia courseware (over 130 IMM Packages) for primary and secondary<br />

school students. These projects were sponsored by International NGO, CASP<br />

(Community Aid and Sponsorship Programmes) as well as a Public Sector<br />
