Awareness Month<br />
The <strong>Absentee</strong> <strong>Shawnee</strong> Domestic Violence<br />
Program Staff will be having some activities and<br />
events during the month.<br />
During the entire month of <strong>October</strong> –<br />
The Shawl Display Project<br />
The Shawl Display Project is a visual display<br />
that bears witness to the violence against<br />
victms. The Shawl Display Project comprises<br />
of Natve American shawls designed by<br />
Tribal employees and survivors of abuse and<br />
those who have lost love ones to it. The<br />
shawls will be displayed around diferent<br />
areas around the Tribal complex during the<br />
month of <strong>October</strong>.<br />

Balloon Release and refreshments<br />
Everyone is invited<br />
Pest Extermination/Spray Service<br />
The Lt. Governors office will begin offering a spraying<br />
service for the treatment of pest in residential dwellings.<br />
Priority will be given to the elderly first, then to<br />
any elidgible tribal member.<br />
The spraying service will be provided by Terminix.<br />

and to fill out the necessary application.<br />
What is Domestic Violence<br />
Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior used<br />
to establish power and control over another<br />
person through the use of fear and intimidation,<br />
often including the threat or use of violence.<br />
Domestic violence may include emotional<br />
abuse, economic abuse, sexual abuse, using<br />
children, threats, using male privilege,<br />
intimidation, isolation, and a variety of other<br />
behaviors used to maintain fear, intimidation,<br />
power and control.<br />
