New elected officers sworn in

support our tribal citizens have given our 

program and promise to continue our strive 

to provide the best health services available. 

The finalizing of the Run Off election 

was complete on July 9th with the swearing 

in of the three (3) newly elected officials. 

The ceremony started at 5:30 with 

approximately 60 in attendance. Governor 

Scott Miller, Secretary Michelle Lopez 

and former Treasurer Ewell Longhorn were 

among those who attended to welcome the 

new staff. 

Dan Little Axe Sr., elected Lt. Governor, 

Anita Chisholm - elected Treasurer, 

Alecia Onzahwah - elected Representative, 

were sworn in by the Election Committee 

and each will be serving two year terms in 

office. 

Mary Birdtail was elected to the 

Election Commission as member #2. She 

will be serving a three (3) year term. 

Each newly elected officer had their 

time to speak on what their missions were 

and what they wish to accomplish while in 

office. They thanked all who voted for them 

and would like for all tribal members to feel 

welcome to call or come by their offices any 

Shawnee Clinic opening soon 

The Absentee Shawnee 

Tribal Health Program is proud 

to announce the opening of our 

Shawnee Clinic. This clinic is located 

on the tribal complex in 

Building 17, along with the 

Shawnee Pharmacy, Behavioral 

Health and Community Health departments. 

All enrolled Absentee 

Shawnee Tribal citizens are eligible 

to receive services at this 

new clinic. In addition to our tribal 

citizens, we will also be offering medical and 

behavioral health services to any Sooner- 

Care (Medicaid) recipient and tribal employees. 

The Shawnee Clinic will officially 

open on Monday, August 18, 2008. If you

August 2008 Report 

Ho! Hi gi ke ya fi ho wa se li si mi mo? 

I hope this edition of the Absentee 

Shawnee News finds each and every one 

of you in good health and staying cool during 

this stretch of hot weather. Remember 

to drink plenty of nourishing fluids and 

take plenty of breaks when working in the 

heat. 

I would like to take this opportunity 

to welcome the newly elected members 

of the Executive Committee; Lieutenant 

Governor Dan Little Axe Sr., Treasurer 

Anita Chisholm, and Representative Alecia 

Onzahwah. Over the past few weeks, 

the Executive Committee has been meeting 

on a regular basis to discuss the projects 

that are on going and issues the tribe 

faces. We are committed to changing the 

perception the tribal population has about 

the Executive Committee and the overall 

tribe by working together and communicating 

with each other. Also, we are committed 

to better the work environment for 

the employees and tribal programs. Many 

times during the election cycle, the stress 

level of employees elevate due to the fear 

of change in elected officials, we intend to 

change that. 

As I mentioned before, the Executive 

Committee has been discussing issues 

the tribe faces and ways to address 

them. We have identified three major areas 

that we will be addressing over the 

next several weeks; the tribe’s Constitution, 

ASEDA, and AllNations Bank. During 

August, we will be putting together plans 

for each area and start implementing the 

plans beginning in September. There are 

other areas we will be addressing during 

this time as well, but the Constitution, 

ASEDA, and AllNations Bank can have a 

significant impact for the tribe. 

The Executive Committee will be 

working in a positive manner to move the 

tribe forward. It is very important in this 

day and time that we work together to lay 

a solid foundation for future generations.

Community Health hosts blood drive 

On June 20th, the AST Community Health 

department and Prevention Director, Regina Grass, 

MPH. hosted a blood drive on campus. Together, 

with the American Red Cross staff, they coordinated 

efforts in sponsoring , recruiting blood donors, 

and organizing the days activities. 

The Red Cross donor recruiter suggested 

we try for twenty-five volunteer donors, thanks to 

all the volunteers, we exceeded the quota by signing 

up twenty-six participants. 

On behalf of the American Red Cross & 

Tribal Health Programs, a BIG thank you is extended 

to all employees, tribal citizens, and communities 

members which participated in Friday’s blood 

drive on campus. Without your help, the American 

Red Cross would be unable to fulfill its mission to 

maintain a safe and adequate blood supply. The 

number of blood untis collected was 23, which is 

40 lives saved.

which the application has been

3. Applicant must reside on the 

land one year prior to making the 

application. Must provide proof 

of residency (Current utility bill, etc.) 

4. Multiple heirship, applicant must 

provide (Statement of Status) or 

written consent from the heirs. 

5. All repairs to driveways will be 

limited to tribal members living in 

Pottawatomie and Cleveland County. 

6. The AST Driveway Repair Program 

is not designed to or approved to 

assist with sidewalks, parking areas, 

concrete, or asphalt driveways.

I have now been in the office as 

Lt. Governor for two and half weeks as 

of this writing and spent this time meeting 

with the Executive Committee and 

most Department heads to determine 

what our tribe currently have relative to 

programs, projects. I especially wanted 

to know where the tribe was financially. 

So far, I and the other newly elected officers 

have concluded our tribe is in a financial 

crunch with expenses exceeding 

revenues. This is something we will be 

dealing with immediately and reporting 

our progress to the membership shortly. 

There are many other things we will be 

dealing with and certainly, will have to 

consider some changes to better control 

tribal operations. The other concern I 

have personally, is the fact that our tribe 

must put forth major efforts toward creating 

other revenues through business 

and economic development. Our tribe 

must develop various income producing 

ventures and businesses beyond just 

our Casino business. We cannot continue 

to depend on our gaming facility to 

pay for all tribal operations and services. 

The Executive Committee is basically 

in agreement that we need to identify 

specific objectives and activities for the 

remainder of this year to address the immediate 

needs of tribal operations. 

My activities as the Lt. Governor 

is going to be directed toward business 

and economic development. I feel this 

is the primary need of our tribe. This is 

also, what I have been doing for Tribal 

and Native American Businesses for the 

last 18 years. My time and devotion will 

be primarily in this area.

thanking you all for your vote and support 

in the last election. I promise to do

Hello, Tribal Members: 

There has been some really 

good progress in which the Executive 

Committee is moving on with the Day 

Care. 

The casino contract has been 

signed and the work has started. I hope 

this will show tribal members that we are 

sincere in moving this tribe forward. 

I would like to say it has been a 

real honor working with Representative 

Gibson. I felt like he contributed a lot to 

the tribe and was a big part in getting the 

new casino started and many other economic 

development ideals. I feel that 

he was cut short by the election process 

and hope he will consider running again 

in the future. 

I have been working with the 

Culture Preservation Director Andy Warrior 

on finding a way to build a camping 

facility on some of our fee land. We are 

currently looking for the funds or grants 

to help build a camp ground for our tribal 

children. We can use it for summer 

camp, Diabetes camp, cultural activities 

or we could lease it out to other companies 

when not in use. 

The Following Programs I have over site 

of and would like to keep you informed 

in how they are performing. 

May 25 to June 25, the Social Services 

have assisted: 

17 - TEA Tribal Energy Assistance 

7 - LIHEAP Cooling 

2 General Assistance 

1 Direct Employment Assistance 

4 - Summer Youth workers - on 

June 19th took SYS to tour OU 

campus. 

4 - Summer Youth on July 9th 

toured the OSU campus in Still 

water. 

We will also be taking another 

tentatively scheduled trip to OCU and 

Bacone in late July. 

In addition we plan to attend the 

July 14-17 - Youth Leadership Conference 

in Warner, OK at Connors State 

College. 

May 28 - with the help of the maintenance 

and Representatives office we 

were able to pick up donated office furniture 

from IBC bank though Feed the 

Children. 

June 30 - I would like to welcome aboard 

new employee Annette Wilson.She will 

be our new Social Services Specialist. 

I would also like to say great job on 

completing the WIA Adult and Youth two 

year plan to Shawnee Larney and Grant 

writer Rick Short. 

ICW & PSSF: We are continually looking 

for more foster parents. If you are 

interested in becoming a foster parent

BIA Self Governance Has been 

busy collecting the information for the 

2007 Minimum Data Collection Report 

for the BIA Office of Self Governance 

and has been entering data as it comes 

in, along with communicating with the 

Executive Committee, Bureau of Indian 

Affairs, The Office of Special Trustee 

and the Office of Self-Governance regarding 

2009 BIA-OSG negotiations. 

Realty is currently working on 35 Probates, 

8 gift deeds, 12 appraisals, and 

several tribal leases. They continue to 

work hard for the tribal members and 

their families and if you should have any

The School Clothing program 

has been running smoothly with the 

Visa cards and hope that this has made 

it easier for the parents and the children. 

We have currently served: 172 children 

with school clothing. 

The Burial program has helped 

a total of 12 tribal families this year.

Hello Tribal Members 

I was sworn in as the Treasurer 

of the ASTribe on July 9. We had 

a great reception after the ceremony. 

Thank you all for coming to the reception 

to show your support. It meant a 

lot to see so many of you in attendance. 

The very next day the three new Executive 

Committee members met with the 

Governor, Scott Miller and Secretary, 

Michelle Lopez. Your five member Executive 

Committee members have been 

meeting nearly everyday discussing all 

the important issues you must have on 

The 22nd annual Red Earth Native American Festival 

was held in dowtown Oklahoma City, June 6-8th. The Red 

Earth grand parade opened the festival on Friday, June 6th 

and once again the Tribal Veteran’s Association was represented. 

However, the Veterans Association was supported a 

little differently this year. Instead of the float being filled with 

members of the association, it was primarily filled with tribal 

members and tribal leaders riding in support of the Veteran’s 

Association and Tribe. 

Roy Charley, David Voyles and John Vanderburg 

were the members of the Veterans Association who organized 

and attended the parade event. Tribal Governor: Scott 

Miller, Lt. Governor: Michelle Lopez, Representative: Isaac 

Gibson, Alicia Miller, Connor Miller and Brody Miller, Darrell 

Larney, Shawnee Larney and Taylor McKinley-Larney, Devin 

Voyles and Wynonna Coon were the others who participated 

and represented our tribe. 

A Special Thanks to the support and pictures; and to 

Alex Blanchard and Cecil Walker from the tribal maintenance 

department for providing and driving the truck and trailer and 

for all the work they put in on the day of the parade, it would 

not have been possible without them. 

your mind as well. We all realize that 

we must continue to work to balance our 

budget and to bring in new revenue to 

off set our current deficit. Your Casino, 

Thunderbird is beginning to bring new 

business and is in the process of paying 

the Tribe back the funds loaned to 

them several months ago. The tribe is 

in a difficult place right now but you do 

have five committee members who are 

talking, sharing and who will make the 

best decisions based on all our expertise 

as well as consulting with others. We 

are not taking our roles as your leaders 

lightly. We want our AST to succeed and 

we will with your help and prayers. 

You may want to know that the 

Executive Committee members are also 

discussing the following issues: 1)revision 

of the Constitution, 2)ASEDA,Inc., (our 

economic development authority),3)All 

Nations Bank, 4)Improving employee 

relations, 4)looking at the infra-structure 

of the tribe and 5) looking at strategic 

planning(where do we want to be in one 

year, 3 years and so on). Your ideas 

and thoughts will be gratefully appreciated. 

So at anytime please call or e-mail 

myself and other Committee members. 

I’d also like to hear from former Executive 

Council members. Your expertise is 

welcome. 

I’ve enjoyed talking with the employees 

of the Tribe. I’ve gained a lot of 

insight about how our departments operate. 

We have a lot of dedicated employees 

who work for the Tribe. The next time 

you meet one of our employees please 

tell them how much you appreciate their 

hard work. 

The finance department and 

I are meeting on a regular bases. We 

have some excellent people in that department. 

The finance department has 

undergone many changes since 2005 to 

date. Today, we have a Controller, Assistant 

Controller and other staff that are 

working hard to ensure AST has the best 

and most efficiency department around. 

The finance department will start providing 

training to departmental heads on 

their budgets. Our promise is that we 

will meet on a regular bases with the Executive 

Committee, the staff and others 

to keep everyone updated on our budget 

as we go though the next six months. 

I am totally energized by all the 

issues I feel we face as your Executive 

Committee and as a tribal member. I believe 

we can and will move forward and 

become successful in all our endeavors. 

We do plan to have our monthly meetings 

starting in September. I’ll be looking 

forward to meeting each of you in person 

on September 13th at Tecumseh Square.

thank you for the opportunity to serve in 

this capacity. I am truly honored. The 

past month has been spent meeting 

with the other Executive Committee 

members participating in in-depth dialogue 

over various issues that will need 

to be addressed, both immediately and 

long-term. The cooperation that has 

been displayed in the aforementioned 

meetings is indeed encouraging. While 

there are many issues that require attention, 

I look forward to meeting each 

challenge head on. 

Regretfully, due to my family’s 

recent loss, this issue’s report is limited. 

With this in mind, in my family’s behalf,

to those who have offered words 

of encouragement and support. I would

Fastpitch Softball 2008 State Champions - Next of Kin 

Tribal members Roy and Kevin Kaseca are members of the “Next of Kin” fastpitch softball team. Their team took first place in the 

2008 Creek Nation Festival in June and the All Indian State Fastpitch tournament. 

At the Creek Nation tournament, Roy Kaseca was awarded the Most Valuable Player award and Kevin Kaseca received the 

Golden Glove award. 

The All Indian State Fastpitch tournament was July 11-13th, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The Next of Kin team came out on top 

as the champions out of 33 teams. Next of Kin lost their first game and had to play 12 games in 2 days to win the tournament. They 

met the Florida Seminoles in the finals and had to play them twice. Kevin Kaseca received the All Star award. 

“I am very proud of my husband and son. I love watching them play ball together. Congratulations on winning the “Big

Executive Officer’s Report: No report given. 

Operations Officer’s Report: Operations Officer Walter Larney said, 

“We had a pretty good turnout at the Thunderbird Casino Pow-Wow. 

Sergeant Curtis Johnson was pretty pleased and appreciative of the 

honor dance that we gave him.” 

Officer Larney announced we have the Native American Youth 

Leadership Conference coming up on July 15th and 17th and this 

Saturday [July 12] we’ve been invited to the Sac & Fox Pow-Wow, 

Saturday, at noon. Officer Larney said, “The Sac & Fox are holding a 

Veterans dinner and they’ve invited us to come eat with them.” 

1st Sergeant Report: 1st Sergeant Jim Sloat said, “I felt the Thunderbird 

Pow-Wow went well.” He continued, “We need to practice 

a little more on posting the colors, especially when we’re doing a 

Grand Entry. We really do need to practice more on that, especially 

those who are more involved.” 

Administrative Officer’s Report: Administrative Officer John Vanderburg 

reported the current balance in the organization’s checking account 

is $1,119.48. He said, “That comes after the deposit from the 

fireworks stand. We made $871.47 which is more then last year.” 

He said, “I would especially like to thank Lewis Snake, Frank Tiger 

and David and Stella Little for their time and willingness to be there.” 

Officer Vanderburg stated for those who are going to the Indian 

Country Business Summit, coming up in August, “We will need to 

stay the night on the 24th and 25th. I will make the hotel reservations 

so that when we get up there everything will be set-up.”

Employee’s Softball Game 

On Friday, June 13th, the AST employee committee 

coordinated the employee’s softball game held at the 

Little Axe Community Center. Even though it was Friday 

the 13th, it wasn’t a day to worry about bad luck. All the 

employees who paricipated and those that came as fans, 

all enjoyed a fun filled afternoon at softball, wait a minute, 

it was softball on a tee. 

The score was 11 to 5, 5 to 11, everyone turned out to be 

winners at this game.

Axe Clinic, Representative Isaac Gibson Jr., Lt. Governor 

Michelle Lopez (a fan) were among the employees who 

participated. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of physical 

activity.

the Reserve Academy Coordinator 

School and Captain

is a decorated officer with over 

25 years of service in the Law 

Enforcement field. Captain 

Neal has been instrumental in 

establishing and over seeing 

Pottawatomie County’s finest 

reserve program. The Absentee 

Shawnee Tribal Reserve Police 

program has assisted the AST Police department, Absentee 

Shawnee Tribe and the Thunderbird Casino. One of Captain 

Neal’s goals is to educate new officers in all types of law enforcement 

training for the betterment of Absentee Shawnee 

Tribal Police department as well as other surrounding agencies. 

Captain Neal has been awarded a Commendation for 

his outstanding performance in his continuance in Law Enforcement 

Education for the betterment of the AST Police Department. 

The Absentee Shawnee News is published monthly by the 

Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma and is mailed free, one per 

address, to enrolled Tribal members. Additional subscriptions to nontribal 

members and organizations are available for $12 annually. We

AST Youth Camp, Camp Nikoti 

and staff at Brendle Corner. 

The officers spoke with 

the youth about the consequences 

of drugs and drinking 

in schools, peer pressure and 

dealing with family members 

with a drug and alcohol problem. 

There were approximately 

20 boys and girls attending the 

youth camp. The students were 

very attentive and interacted 

with the officers by asking lots of 

questions and the officers shared 

some very intense life changing 

stories which involved the officers.

2008 Employee Picnic

On June 27th the Absentee Shawnee employees held their annual 

employee picnic at Tecumseh Lake. Among the day’s events, volleyball 

and horseshoe tournaments were held. 

Ten teams competed in the horseshoe tournament. Coming out on 

top was the team of Jim Lankford and Pete Palacio, both employees of the 

AST Housing Authority. Finishing second was the team of Darrell Larney 

Sr. and Darrell Larney Jr. 

Four teams competed in the double-elimination volleyball tournament. 

The winning team was Spiked Punch made up of John Vanderburg 

(Veterans Dept.), Rico Coon (MIS), Darrell Larney Sr. (Enrollment), Shawnee 

Larney (Social Services), Darrell Larney Jr. (Summer Youth), Sherry 

Roubidoux (Tax Commission), and Shaun Wiegmann (OEH). 

Thank you to the Executive Committee for giving us this time off 

and to all who participated. Congratulations to the winning teams. We 

look forward to next year events. 


Do you have young patients with type 2 diabetes? 

OU Children’s Physicians Diabetes Center is 

conducting the first study to evaluate treatment 

options for these patients. Our goal is to identify 

every eligible Oklahoma child and offer the 

opportunity to enroll in the TODAY study 

(Treatment Options for Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth). 

Medications, diabetes education, laboratory 

tests and doctor visits related to this National 

Institutes of Health study are provided at no cost to 

the patient. 

Enrollment ends September 1, 2008 

Other Benefits of the Study 

• In most cases, the TODAY staff will travel 

to see your patients. 

• When travel to our offices in Oklahoma 

City or Tulsa is necessary, we will 

reimburse expenses or provide a cab. 

• Insurance is not necessary since no billing 

occurs. 

Who is eligible? 

To be eligible to be screened for the TODAY study, 

patients must: 

• Be between age 10 and 17 

• Have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within 

the last two years 

• Have a body mass index (BMI) greater than the 

85 th percentile for their age and sex 

• Have a fasting plasma glucose greater than or 

equal to 126 mg/dl OR a two-hour oral 

glucose (OGTT) value greater than or equal to 

200 mg/dl. (The TODAY study staff will do all 

other lab work.) 

When your patients enroll, they will still look to 

you for primary care needs. We will keep you 

informed about your patients’ involvement in the 

TODAY study.

Do you have a Will? Do you need help in preparing 

your will? Do you need updating your will? The AST 

Realty is here to assist you. 

Why have a will you may ask? The end of your life is 

something you probably don’t want to dwell on, but thinking 

about what will happen to your loved ones and your 

assets and personal possessions is important. Without a 

will to indicate your wishes, the court steps in and distributes 

your property according to the laws of your state. A 

will ensures that what assets you do have will be given 

to family members or other beneficiaries you designate. 

Having a will is especially important if you have young 

children because it gives you the opportunity to designate 

a guardian for them in the event of your death. Without a 

will, the court will appoint a guardian for your children. 

Appointments will be in 45 minute increments, sign in 15 

minutes before scheduled time with the following items; 

1. A drivers’ license or state ID 

2. A tribal ID card with enrollment number 

3. Ownership information or quarterly statement from

Tobacco use In Oklahoma 

Tobacco is Oklahoma’s leading cause of preventable death, killing more Oklahomans each year than 

alcohol, auto accidents, AIDS, suicides, murders, and illegal drugs combined. Over 5,800 Oklahomans 

who die each year from tobacco, another 100,000 Oklahomans suffer from serious tobacco-caused 

disease. 

Every day, 16 Oklahomans die from tobacco use and the equivalent of a classroom of students gets 

hooked. Second-hand smoke exposure causes heart disease, cancer and respiratory disease among 

healthy non-smokers, killing an estimated 700 Oklahomans each year. 

The more adults who quit tobacco, the fewer kids ever start. If you are a smoker and have thought 

about quitting smoking, the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline is a resource at no cost. If you’re not ready to 

quit, the Helpline staff will help you figure out what steps you can take- including getting information 

about resources in your community. 

The help line includes numerous options to provide be a successful non-smoker. These items include:

4 Cope with cravings 

4 Find things you can do with your hand

ABSENTEE SHAWNEE TRIBAL PHARMACY

The Absentee Shawnee Pharmacy (Shawnee Location) can fill prescriptions for enrolled Absentee Shawnee Tribal 

members only. We are currently working with a formulary for the pharmacy and we would like to encourage all tribal 

members to work with us so that we can keep our cost down. 

The following is a list of ways which the pharmacy will be functioning with the current formulary change and also 

information that we will need from you to ensure that our pharmacy is keeping it’s cost down. All prescriptions will be 

filled with a generic when available unless otherwise stated by your doctor. 

u C.V.S. Pharmacy in Shawnee and Norman are available for “EMERGENCIES ONLY ”. All medications must 

be authorized for filling at these locations by the Tribal Pharmacy or emergency room. 

u Please bring your insurance cards with you and present to the pharmacy staff. If you have insurance, 

you will still get your medications for you at no charge. Your insurance will pay for their part and the 

tribe will cover the co-pay. By using your insurance card it will help us keep our cost down and 

also provide us with funding to continue purchasing your medications. 

u Also, you must keep us informed of any changes such as change in address, phone number, insurance 

companies and name changes. 

u Also, we need to know if your medications are to be picked up, delivered or to be mailed. If the caller 

does not notify us of how they will get their medication we hold it in the pharmacy until it is 

called upon. This could delay the medication getting to you in a timely manner. 

u If you have any questions concerning your prescriptions please feel free to call and talk to our pharmacist. They 

are here to assist you in any way .

Academic (K-12) Program: assists with academic related expenses, and a portion of funds can be used for 

school-related athletic program expenses. 

Zahn Program: established from a trust fund, program can help with some graduation expenses, and 

awards two (2) incentives: one for GED recipients and one for High School graduates. 

Job Training Adult Education Program: funds for vocational training at accredited vocational institutions. 

Higher Education: Education Incentive Award Program: funds for undergraduate degrees, one associates or bach 

elors degree, at any accredited college or university. 

Graduate Scholarship Program: funds for one master’s degree or one doctoral degree, and can fund for one 

graduate admissions test.

If you are interested in taking any courses for the Fall 2008 semester contact the Education Department as soon as 

possible to request the appropriate guidelines and application. Please remember all programs are first come, first 

served and based upon the availability of funds. 

AST/EOC Technology Center contract courses now available: 

The Absentee Shawnee Tribe has an agreement with Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center to offer courses 

for tribal members and employees. More information is available on the tribe’s website at www.astribe.com, click 

on the link Adult Career Development. No online courses are covered in the contract. All courses are campus-based 

courses only. The contract covers tuition and books, additional supplies required for the courses are the responsibility 

of the tribal member. This contract covers up to $6,000.00 worth of tuition and books for tribal members, once this 

amount is depleted the agreement ends. 

For tribal members interested in taking a course, the application is available for download or a copy can be picked 

up at the Education Department. Tribal members need to make an appointment to meet with the Education Director, 

Tresha Spoon, to complete the application process. Please bring your completed application and a copy of your tribal 

enrollment card.

TRIBAL HOUSING IMPROVEMENTS APPLICATION 

The Tribal Housing Improvement Program’s goal is providing sanitary, safe, and decent housing for its members by utilizing the following 

criteria to select the most “in need” tribal members with homes that are in disrepair but are still suitable for rehabilitation. All applicants 

must meet the following criteria, which is approved by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. Submit completed application to the above address.

Assistance Program 

This program assists with establishing a new water well and/or septic 

system or with rehab of an existing water well and/or septic system. 

OEH&E provides assistance to Absentee Shawnee Tribal members who 

reside within one of the following six counties: Pottawatomie, Cleveland, 

Oklahoma, Payne, Lincoln, or Logan. We assist Absentee Shawnee Tribal 

members who have an existing home, are building a new home, or moving 

a mobile home to their land. You must update your application every year.

Pest Control Program 

The Environmental Pest Control Program is designed to assist 

Absentee Shawnee Tribal elders (55 years and older) 

in controlling the infestation of termites and insects such 

as roaches, ticks, fleas, and spiders, etc. Each household 

can receive one spraying every six months and one termite 

treatment, if needed. You must update your application every 

year if you need your home sprayed. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

1. Copy of Absentee Shawnee Tribe (CDIB card) 

2. Proof of residency in Tribal member’s name (utility 

bill, driver’s license, etc.) 

3. Must be at least 55 years and older 

4. Must provide documented verification of disability/ 

handicap, if applicable
