Sonoma Wine Country<br />

The Sonoma Valley is one <strong>of</strong> the premier wine<br />

producing areas in the world. It is centrally located<br />

along the California coast, just south <strong>of</strong> Russian River<br />

and west <strong>of</strong> Napa, making it easy to visit all <strong>of</strong> the<br />

sites, attractions and vineyards just north <strong>of</strong> the San<br />

Francisco Bay area.<br />

The roots <strong>of</strong> downtown Sonoma are show-cased in<br />

the historic buildings <strong>of</strong> the Sonoma State Historic<br />

Park, located just <strong>of</strong>f the Plaza Square. Several<br />

original early 1800’s buildings are onsite, including<br />

the Mission San Francisco Solano, the Mission<br />

Barracks, and the General Vallejo Home. Highlights<br />

<strong>of</strong> downtown include the Sonoma Valley Museum <strong>of</strong><br />

Art, a glass-blowing studio, a quilt shop and a silver<br />

company. Artisan shops <strong>of</strong>fer locally grown foods<br />

including olive oils, jams, tapenades and mustards.<br />

There is a Tuesday evening and a Friday morning<br />

farmers market, and the Sonoma Enoteca <strong>of</strong>fers wine<br />

tastings from ten Sonoma vineyards.<br />
