ANZIIF is a leading non-profit institution providing education, training and professional development services
to the insurance and financial services industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region – it
represents both general insurance and insurance broking as well as life insurance, loss adjusting, financial
planning, risk management, workers compensation. Its members include both firms and individuals.
ANZIIF has its origins in the late 1880s and merged with the Insurance Institute of New Zealand (IINZ) in
2000.
Membership requirements
ANZIIF has a number of membership levels:
• Ordinary Member – an open level of membership with no qualification requirements.
• Member – open to people who have completed a tertiary degree in any discipline or completed ASIC
Tier 1 compliance
• CIP Affiliate – open to people who have undertaken the Institute’s Affiliate program in General/Life
Insurance prior to the implementation of AQF courses
• CIP Associate – open to people who have completed a Certificate IV General Insurance qualification or
equivalent 66
• CIP Senior Associate – open to people who have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma
qualification or equivalent
• CIP Fellow – open to people who have achieved Fellowship of the Institute
Certification and industry designations
To attain the ANZIIF CIP designation, members need to attain defined qualifications and maintain their
technical skills and knowledge through an annual program of professional development, as well as abiding
by the ANZIIF Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct to ensure the highest standards of
professional practice.
