The College offers full qualifications from <strong>the</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ancial Services FNS04 <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> Package from Certificate II<br />

through to Advanced Diploma 84 . These can be undertaken by coursework or workplace assessment.<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong>eeships are available at <strong>the</strong> Certificate II, III or IV level, with <strong>the</strong> option of <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Tier 2 ASIC<br />

accreditation. Most of <strong>the</strong> Certificate III tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is delivered through tra<strong>in</strong>eeships, which have proved<br />

particularly attractive to smaller member firms.<br />

In addition, ASIC compliance courses are available utilis<strong>in</strong>g units from <strong>the</strong> FNS04 <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> Package 85 -<br />

<strong>the</strong>se courses are listed on <strong>the</strong> ASIC <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> Register and lead to a Statement of Atta<strong>in</strong>ment.<br />

NIBA will also ‘benchmark’ <strong>in</strong>-house tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programs aga<strong>in</strong>st <strong>the</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ancial Services <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> Package<br />

qualifications, to allow <strong>the</strong>se courses to be <strong>in</strong>cluded on <strong>the</strong> ASIC <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> Register.<br />

In addition to <strong>the</strong> FNS04 qualifications, NIBA offers a number of specialised brok<strong>in</strong>g qualifications designed<br />

to apply to all <strong>in</strong>dustry roles from responsible officers to licensees, based on <strong>the</strong> FNS04 units and/or NIBA<br />

competencies:<br />

(a) Broker Management short course<br />

This VET course is run over 10-12 months and results <strong>in</strong> a Statement of Atta<strong>in</strong>ment for partial<br />

completion of <strong>the</strong> Advanced Diploma of F<strong>in</strong>ancial Services.<br />

(b) Vocational Graduate Diploma of F<strong>in</strong>ancial Services<br />

The Graduate Diploma is a distance learn<strong>in</strong>g program 86 accredited by VETAB. It focuses on risk<br />

management and product development, and is most suitable for experienced practitioners who have<br />

undertaken prior qualifications <strong>in</strong> a risk and <strong>in</strong>surance area. The course is underp<strong>in</strong>ned by a set of<br />

NIBA competencies. Entry to <strong>the</strong> course is open to those brokers and <strong>in</strong>surance managers who have<br />

achieved:<br />

• extensive work experience and evidence of a capacity to undertake tertiary studies <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>surance/<strong>in</strong>surance brok<strong>in</strong>g such as relevant professional qualifications (Diploma of F<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />

Services (Insurance Brok<strong>in</strong>g) or Advanced Diploma of F<strong>in</strong>ancial Services); or<br />

• a degree from a recognised university or o<strong>the</strong>r equivalent higher education <strong>in</strong>stitution and a<br />

m<strong>in</strong>imum of two years work experience. Graduates <strong>in</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r fields may apply for entry <strong>in</strong>to this<br />

program provided <strong>the</strong>y have had relevant <strong>in</strong>dustry experience for a period of not less than five<br />

years.<br />

(c) Senior Professional Assessment programs<br />

The follow<strong>in</strong>g short courses are available <strong>in</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial plann<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

• Senior Professional Assessment 1 – for F<strong>in</strong>ancial Plann<strong>in</strong>g Advisers with 5 years advisory<br />

experience (lead<strong>in</strong>g to NIBA College Membership of QFSR)<br />

Typical duration of delivery is as follows: full Certificate II and III (6-12 months); full Diploma courses <strong>in</strong> Brok<strong>in</strong>g or Risk<br />

Management (12-24 months); full Advanced Diploma course (12 – 24 months).<br />

Tier 1 and 2 Brok<strong>in</strong>g Adviser short courses have a typical duration of 3-6 months.<br />
