The College offers full qualifications from the Financial Services FNS04 Training Package from Certificate II
through to Advanced Diploma 84 . These can be undertaken by coursework or workplace assessment.
Traineeships are available at the Certificate II, III or IV level, with the option of including Tier 2 ASIC
accreditation. Most of the Certificate III training is delivered through traineeships, which have proved
particularly attractive to smaller member firms.
In addition, ASIC compliance courses are available utilising units from the FNS04 Training Package 85 -
these courses are listed on the ASIC Training Register and lead to a Statement of Attainment.
NIBA will also ‘benchmark’ in-house training programs against the Financial Services Training Package
qualifications, to allow these courses to be included on the ASIC Training Register.
In addition to the FNS04 qualifications, NIBA offers a number of specialised broking qualifications designed
to apply to all industry roles from responsible officers to licensees, based on the FNS04 units and/or NIBA
competencies:
(a) Broker Management short course
This VET course is run over 10-12 months and results in a Statement of Attainment for partial
completion of the Advanced Diploma of Financial Services.
(b) Vocational Graduate Diploma of Financial Services
The Graduate Diploma is a distance learning program 86 accredited by VETAB. It focuses on risk
management and product development, and is most suitable for experienced practitioners who have
undertaken prior qualifications in a risk and insurance area. The course is underpinned by a set of
NIBA competencies. Entry to the course is open to those brokers and insurance managers who have
achieved:
• extensive work experience and evidence of a capacity to undertake tertiary studies in
insurance/insurance broking such as relevant professional qualifications (Diploma of Financial
Services (Insurance Broking) or Advanced Diploma of Financial Services); or
• a degree from a recognised university or other equivalent higher education institution and a
minimum of two years work experience. Graduates in other fields may apply for entry into this
program provided they have had relevant industry experience for a period of not less than five
years.
(c) Senior Professional Assessment programs
The following short courses are available in financial planning:
• Senior Professional Assessment 1 – for Financial Planning Advisers with 5 years advisory
experience (leading to NIBA College Membership of QFSR)

Typical duration of delivery is as follows: full Certificate II and III (6-12 months); full Diploma courses in Broking or Risk
Management (12-24 months); full Advanced Diploma course (12 – 24 months).

Tier 1 and 2 Broking Adviser short courses have a typical duration of 3-6 months.
