What Career Services Can Do for You

Attend Career Services Workshops
Each semester Career Services runs workshops on several topics. Sign up for workshops to gain the
necessary skills. See the Career Services bulletin boards outside the Career Services offices for
workshop dates and always check your AUD emails for important updates.
Career Fairs
Each spring the Career Services Office organizes a Career Fair, inviting prominent companies to
participate, aiming at exposing AUD students to the demands and expectations of the business
community. There will be the opportunity to have face-to-face exposure to HR managers, as well as for
local and regional companies to meet with AUD graduates as a potential pool of fresh graduates. AUD
will provide this opportunity to students and alumni, but it will be up to the student or graduate to be
sufficiently prepared to market themselves and achieve the next step, i.e. the interview and a job offer.
Time Restrictions
Allow plenty of time – it may take months to find suitable employment – so don’t leave it until the last
possible minute. A 2003 survey of graduates showed that most AUD graduates found employment
before graduating from AUD, 36% found employment between 1 day and 3 months, while only 14%
found employment between 6 months to 1 year.
Internships for credit have set dates by which you must register. Again it is important to give Career
Services and the designated faculty at least two months notice before seeking for an internship so there
is sufficient time to assist you in locating an appropriate opportunity.
Priorities
The Career Services Office works with employers and students/graduates to obtain full-time, internship
and part-time opportunities. Where time and resources are tight full-time opportunities take first
priority.
