This pre-conference program will cover the importance and limitations of the<br />
standardized preparticipation physical evaluation (PPE), including a discussion of<br />
the debate on cardiac screening. Common sports medicine scenarios with regards<br />
to recognition and management and the importance and limitations of sports participation<br />
in those with rheumatologic and chronic disease will be addressed. The<br />
afternoon will conclude with discussion and tips on how to talk to difficult or optimistic<br />
parents regarding realistic expectations and their child’s athletic aspirations.<br />
The Self-Assessment portion of this course, titled Peds 21—Sports<br />
in the World of Pediatrics Self-Assessment, has been approved for<br />
10 points of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC Part 2 credit.<br />
• Register to attend the 2014 National Conference & Exhibition.<br />
• Complete the online, pre-course self-assessment prior to the<br />
start of Peds 21.<br />
• Attend the Peds 21 session.<br />
• Complete the online, post course self-assessment with a<br />
minimum passing score of 80%.<br />
This online self-assessment is a bonus to registered conference attendees to<br />
enhance the learning experience at the live activity and provide 10 ABP MOC<br />
Part 2 points in addition to the CME credit earned by attending the course. You<br />
must complete the pre-course self-assessment, attend Peds 21, and complete<br />
the post-course self-assessment to be eligible to claim 10 MOC Part 2 points.<br />
