TK 429V
TEKNA was established in 1964 with the initial mission of designing machines for the manufacturing of window/door frames.
Due to the increasing use of aluminum and the introduction of numeric-control machining centers, TEKNA has begun to
develop efficient systems that could be used in the building and transport industries.
The application synergies between profiles and panels have then led TEKNA to search new solutions for the machining of
panels, especially developing machining centers with a large machine working width.
Over the years TEKNA has gained more and more experience in machining various kind of panels, from aluminum and steel
plates to aluminum/steel sectional panels with polyurethane foam cores and composite panels in aluminum/stainless steel.
Our know-how has been developed by designing panel machining centers used in the coating and facade systems, advertising
signs and exposures, garage and industrial doors.
Over the past 15 years we have been designing several models that have been customized according to the needs of our
customers. By developing solutions that fulfilled the various machining requests made by its customers, TEKNA has designed
different systems for automatic panel load/unload processes, for the profile clamping, for the machining processes, the panel
movement and the suction systems of chips and dust.
Our company receives and answers to feasibility study requests every week, for this reason we can state that TEKNA is
extremely qualified to provide effective responses to the most diverse problems.
TEKNA machining centres are used in the manufacturing of window/door frames, curtain walls, industrial doors, garage door
and panels, accessories for commercial vehicles, components for trains and underground trains, parts for the automotive
industry, as well as for the air and naval industries, for telecommunication booths and many other applications.

TK 429V
3-axis CNC vertical machining center with superior machining capability in Y (2000 mm). It features a clamping system made
up of vacuum tables that allow panels and plates to be held by vacuum; this solution is useful to obtain an extremely efficient
machining of thin components that could hardly be fixed by means of a traditional clamping system.
The TK 429V is equipped with a series of valves that turn on/off different areas of the machining table, thus concentrating the
suction on one area and optimizing the clamping of components with limited dimensions.
This machining center is designed for drilling and interpolated milling operations on composite panels, panels and plates in
aluminum, stainless steel, titanium and on aluminum profiles.
Standard versions are available in 3 machining lengths: 4000, 6500 and 8200 mm. Upon request the machining center can be
manufactured in different lengths in order to meet the special needs of each customer.
The two longer versions of this model can be used in the TWIN mode that allows to divide the machining area into two
distinct areas thus reducing the idle time due to loading/unloading operations.

Construction Features
The structure of the machining center features an electrically welded steel bed frame where linear slideways with recirculating
balls are mounted as well as precision racks that allow the movement of the milling head along the X axis. The milling head
is designed to provide a high Y and Z axis stiffness in order to minimize the vibrations that would compromise the machine
precision and would negatively affect the quality of the machining process.
It is made up by a portal structure in aluminum casting that is composed of two lateral supporting elements and a top
crosspiece. On this crosspiece linear slideways with recirculating balls are mounted as well as precision rack for Y axis.
The linear slide-ways and the recirculating ball screw of the Z-axis are mounted on the same beam.

TK 429V
Linear slideways with recirculating balls
Linear slideways with recirculating balls facilitate the movement along the machining axis of the milling head and of other
components of the machining centre. The system comprises driving ground bars and carriages equipped with scrapers and
weather strips that protects from chips and dust the two internal groups of recirculating balls.
These guides can stand similar traction and compression loads while keeping a low friction coefficient, a high resistance to
vibrations and an optimal smoothness.
These characteristics improve the high-quality performance of machining centers: an efficient movement of the machine
components that enables a high-precision positioning.

TK 429V
Electric-spindle
The machining center has an electric-spindle which is equipped with an automatic tool change system with an electric cooling
fan for maintaining a constant temperature and preventing the machine from overheating.
The fan operation is independent of the electric-spindle rotation, therefore the fan can work without interruption (even when
the spindle is not rotating) thus providing an improved system cooling.
The max power is 7,5 kW in S1 operation mode, with a max rotation speed of 24000 rpm.
TK 429V
Minimal Lubrication
Minimal lubrication system with micro-drop technology that optimizes the cooling liquid consumption during the machining.
In order to guarantee a suitable cooling of the tool, this system allows also to distinctly reduce the quantity of the used product.
The airflow passes through the nozzles installed at the end of the electric spindle and reaches the contact area between the
tool and the piece to be machined; the provided air is under pressure and mixed with a small quantity of cooling oil.
Thanks to this system it is possible to limit the volume of liquid remaining on the machined piece, thus obtaining a cleaner
machining area.

14
Machining centres for panels
TK 429V
Panel clamping system equipped with a vacuum base
The vacuum base is made up of aluminum extruded beams (230 x 2000 mm) that can automatically be activated/deactivated
by opening and closing the valves.
On the beams Forex panels are mounted: these panels are semi-expanded PVC sheets. Since these sheets are made of
porous material, they provide a uniform airflow distribution across the panel area thereby creating an efficient suction effect
on the whole surface of the working table.
Moreover, Forex material offers such characteristics as robustness, an excellent shock resistance, vibration damping during
operation and resistance to penetration of the residual lubricating liquid.
The vacuum anchoring system is turned on by a suction device whose lateral channel blowers (A-B) ventilate each a different
machine area.
A CNC-controlled mechanism regulates the airflow through the beams of the vacuum base and enables to concentrate the
suction on one area, as well as to decide which tables will perform the clamping.
After the operator selects the tables to be activated from the monitor, the milling head moves along the X axis; during this
first stroke the system opens the valves of the beams that are to be used, while it closes other valves.
TK 429V
Revolver type tool store
Automatic revolver tool magazine that can hold 8 tools plus 2 aggregate heads and is equipped with a removable cover that
protects against chips and dust formed during machining.
This head-mounted tool magazine can easily be accessed, thus reducing tool change time.
Twin
The TK 429 V model features the TWIN operation mode that enables the operator to divide the machine into two welldistinct
machining areas: the operator can access one of the two areas for changing the workpiece, while in the second area
the machine keeps working; in this way it is possible to perform different machining processes in the two distinct areas.
This system increases and optimizes the productivity because it eliminates the idle times caused by the machine downtime
and it gives the possibility to perform different machining processes in the two separated areas.
The TWIN system can be mounted on machines with machinable lengths of 6500 and 8200 mm.

TK 429V
Safety protection
The TK 429 V model is equipped with a safety light barrier system that prevents the operator from accessing dangerous zones
when the machine is working: the operator is allowed to access the machine only when safety conditions are met.
It is provided with a perimeter protection, made up of special modular nets for robotics centers installed on three sides of the
machine (back side and two lateral sides).
TK 850 Panel loader
TK 850 is a traveling lift that allows to automatically load panels by means of a lifting device made up by frames
equipped with suction cups. This system allows to lift and rotate the panel and to position it on the machining centre,
with the surface to be machined readily accessible without moving it.
TK 850 is managed by the CNC of the TK 429 V machining centre and it is an integrating component of it.

ISO language editor
For numeric-control machines the international programming language ISO is used. With this language you can create
programs to perform every kind of machining, with linear or interpolated paths, variable speeds, tapping, parameter use etc.
and for managing all functionalities of the machining center.

SLW Self-learning
Tekna owns the SLW (Self Learning for Windows): a language of superior level then the ISO language . Thanks to a default
number of functions (macros) that can be selected from a graphic menu, it is possible to easily create machining programs.
Coordinates (values in X, Y and Z) must be assigned to each selected macro and other machining programs; each macro can
be activated both as ISO and SLW program. During the selection and the setting of the chosen macros, these are translated
in ISO language, thus creating a file that can be saved as machining program.
The macro library generated by Tekna includes a large number of machining; using this library an advanced user can create
several machining programs very easily.
It is also possible to create and add to the macro library other specific macros customized by the client.
The Self-Learning SLW is very user-friendly: after a two-hour training even a beginner user can use the machine.
Formulas
This is a software that can be used with Self-Learning SLW. You can use it to define formulas based on the default variables
(i.e. the profile length) and then use them in the Self-Learning macros. This function is very useful when you have to perform
same machining processes on profiles of various lengths. For example, the position in X of a hole can be set as L/2-50, where
L must be correctly assigned (by inserting it manually, via a bar code reader o with a kind of automatism).
Remote connection
This functionality allows to directly update the CN6, Maintenance and Technical Support on the machine, remotely via
Internet using a telephone line (modem) or via a LAN (Ethernet card).

NC Tool
NC Tool is a 2D CAD/CAM software based on AutoCAD software: With the appropriate setting of the parameters, this
software creates ISO programs that are CN6-compatible.
The main functionalities of the NC Tool software are:

Drawing file import
Easy setting of the desired machining
Automatic creation of ISO programs that are CN6-compatible
Any changes to geometrical scales and to the dimensions of an existing drawing are automatically converted in a new updated
ISO program.
NC Tool can import/export .dxf and .dwg files, moreover it allows text editing and the subsequent generation of ISO codes.

Optional software
Machining centres for panels
TK 429V
27
Software Nesting
2D optimization program: It enables to calculate, from the initial dimensions of the panel, the optimal distribution of the
template to be machined in order to obtain the highest number of parts. It is a user-friendly application that allows to maximize
the use of the materials, reducing to a minimum the number of chips.
Combined with a NC Tool this software creates a machining program in ISO language.
TK cam
Software package that allows the creation of ISO programs using a 3D graphic programming.
With TK CAM it is possible to assign machining operation regardless of machine models and tool series and view a simulation
of the running program in a 3D representation. In TK CAM it is possible to optimize tools and clamps, it provides an anticollision
function and the automatic generation of ISO codes for the program. In the TK CAM it is possible to import specific
.dxf/.dwg drawings and to assign the corresponding machining operations. In addition, details of the described machining
processes can be imported in TK CAM in a generic .xlm format: This functionality allows the interaction with the management
programs commonly used in the window and door frame manufacturing industry.
