Going Smoothly<br />

New SAP Go Live at Riverdale, Ticonderoga and Sumter<br />

A few weeks ago, <strong>International</strong> <strong>Paper</strong> implemented<br />

the second wave of our new SAP supply chain operating<br />

model in three of our facilities. The Sumter, S.C., facility<br />

along with our Riverdale, Ala., and Ticonderoga, N.Y., mills<br />

now bring to five the number of Printing & Communication<br />

<strong>Paper</strong>s operations that have launched our new supply<br />

chain operating model.<br />

As we prepared for the implementation of SAP, you<br />

expressed concern with how transitions to SAP have gone<br />

at other companies. We were mindful of your feedback as<br />

we prepared for integration and are happy to report that<br />

this wave has gone very well. We appreciate your helpful<br />

suggestions and encourage you to continue to provide us<br />

with your insight.<br />

We made the important decision to transfer to SAP<br />

so that we can become a better supplier for you. The new<br />

model gives us capability and visibility that we did not<br />

previously have. We look forward to demonstrating our<br />

enhanced capabilities to you as time progresses.<br />

<strong>International</strong> <strong>Paper</strong> greatly appreciates your business,<br />

and our teams have worked diligently to ensure the transition<br />

was as seamless as possible. In the coming weeks and<br />

months, the Sumter, Ticonderoga and Riverdale teams will<br />

continue working to gain expertise with the new processes<br />

brought forth through the new SAP model. If you have<br />

specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to<br />

contact your customer service or sales representative.<br />

This year has certainly given us unexpected turns. In<br />

economic times such as these, it’s even more important<br />

that we work together wisely because we truly can make<br />

a tremendous difference to each other’s business.<br />

How big is your carbon footprint?<br />

With the third piece in the Down to Earth series, <strong>International</strong><br />

<strong>Paper</strong> explores the earth’s carbon cycle and offers printers, end<br />

users, and merchants a better understanding of their own impact on<br />

the planet.<br />

In ‘How big is your carbon footprint?’ we investigate possible<br />

ways to: reduce emission, sequestor more carbon, and avoid<br />

emissions altogether.<br />

In this piece, we learn more about carbon footprints and what we<br />

can do to reduce our own impact through the purchase of products<br />

that are manufactured through the use of carbon-neutral fuels,<br />

recycling, and energy conservation.<br />

SFI Inc. revamps Web site<br />

to provide new tools for businesses and<br />

consumers seeking certified forest products<br />

In the wake of rapid growth and interest in forest products from certified well-managed forests and responsible<br />

sources of supply, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® Inc. (SFI Inc.) is enhancing its digital presence with the launch of<br />

a revamped Web site sfiprogram.org.<br />

“We are very excited about launching a more user-friendly Web site to strengthen how we communicate with<br />

businesses, consumers, government officials, the media and others,” said SFI Inc. President & CEO Kathy Abusow.<br />

“The revamped site will help us share information and build on the increased interest in environmental issues and<br />

desire for products from well managed forests.”<br />

To help consumers and businesses make purchasing decisions, the new site boasts a searchable database for<br />

finding certified forest products. “Whether buying 2 X 4’s to build a deck, paper for a printer or the packaging your<br />

favorite product comes in, this search tool will help you to purchase responsibly and find SFI-certified products,”<br />

Abusow said. The new site also provides a clearer explanation of SFI labels, details on critical forestry research<br />

sponsored by SFI-certified organizations and partners and a lengthy list of useful links.<br />

The enhanced Web site comes on the heels of tremendous growth in the SFI ® program. Nearly 600 organizations<br />

across the United States and Canada are now involved, more than twice as many as at the start of 2007. In addition,<br />

the SFI program accounts for 294 chain-of-custody certifications at 788 locations, 223 program participants, and 150<br />

million acres (60 million hectares) of certified forestland.<br />
