CURING BLANKETS
Insulated Curing Blanket
Cold weather curing of concrete is best done
with thermal blankets. Available with reinforced
polyethylene, curing blankets are filled with layers
of polypropylene foam for un-paralleled "R" value.
Closed-cell polypropylene foam won't absorb water.
Since the core stays dry, the blanket maintains its
thermal conductivity so concrete can achieve the
greatest possible strength. A dry core also makes for
a lighter blanket, and that in turn speeds placement,
reducing costs. Curing blankets resist tears and
punctures so they can be reused again and again.
Between uses the blankets are easily folded for storage
and transport.
Curelap
Curlap blankets are a combination of 10oz burlap
and 5 mil white opaque poly. The 5 mil polyethylene is
extruded onto the 10oz burlap. The result is a lightweight
water curing blanket that can be used over and over
again. The burlap layer distributes the water evenly
over the covered surface, while the white opaque
poly reflects the intense rays of sun. In this way, the
concrete is allowed to cure properly. After each use,
expose burlap side to the sun or air. Today, this way,
the burlap will be ready to use again quickly.Curelap
(combination of Burlap-Poly) meets AASHTO M-182,
Class II, and ASTM C-171 specifications when chemical
cures are not allowed.
CURING BLANKETS
Curing Blanket - Single-Use
These single-use wet curing blankets are natural cellulose fabrics
combined with a proprietary blend of HDPE and LLDPE white
opaque film to insure desired MVTR rates during the curing process.
Both components to this product are non-staining and meet or
exceed ASTM D-882 tensile strength and a minimum retention
capacity of 6.5(g). Curing blankets meet or exceed ASTM C 171-03,
ASTM C 171-97a and AASHTO M171-00, standard specifications for
sheet material curing concrete slabs or pavement.
Application: Spray water generously around the first area to be
blanketed. No less than 1/8" of water required for proper wetting.
Roll out curing blanket on the wetted surface plastic side up. Make
sure to keep roll straight while unrolling. If wrinkle occurs, or if roll
gets out of line, make a cut across the web and overlap 3" and
realign. Spray additional water as needed during the unroll process.
With the use of a medium bristle broom, push out all wrinkles and air
bubbles that might be left behind as you roll out curing blanket on
to the wet surface; be sure not to puncture the plastic sheeting and
to push in the direction of the un-blanketed surface. When rolling
out the next section, overlap 2" to 3" over the edge of the previous
section. Product must stay down on surface for no less than seven
days after placement. Ensure that blanket maintains 100% contact
with surface to be treated.
Burlap
Burlap is an absorbent cover for curing concrete which
allows periodic lapses in the sprinkling method of curing.
Burlap should be rinsed thoroughly before placing. Care
should be taken to ensure proper lapping and that all
concrete edges are covered. Keep continuously wet.
Burlap may also be used to roughen fresh concrete surfaces
by wet dragging. Standard weight 10 oz.
Curing Blanket - Multi-Use
Wet curing blankets provide a unique solution to concrete
curing. Unlike other one-time use concrete curing products, it is
durable enough to be reused many times. Supports the uniform
wet curing of concrete in a very efficient and cost effective
manner. By holding the moisture in the slab over a longer time
period, these curing blankets slow evaporation and contribute
to the increased strength of the finished concrete in elevated
decks and slabs in highway, general engineering, institutional
and building construction. Consists of high strength, nonwoven
polypropylene geotextile fabric coated with a white UV
resistant polyethylene for long-term protection against sunlight
degradation. Its reflective surface works to minimize the heat
absorption by the covered concrete, helping to retard the loss
of surface water. Exceeds the requirements of the stringent
American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials (AASHTO) M-171 Standard and ASTM C-171 specification.
