4.32 The experience of the Isle of Man, Jersey,
Guernsey, Cornwall, Ireland, Wales and
Scotland will be of value in terms of the
practical actions which they have taken
to enhance and develop their respective
minority languages in the setting of the
home and might usefully be drawn on to
inform the use of Ulster Scots in the
family setting. A baseline of those
families and others who who still use
Ulster Scots in the home needs to be
identified with a view to consolidating
and building upon the existing base of
speakers by identifying ways in which
the transmission of Ulster Scots from one
generation to the next can be developed
and improved.
