International Paper Shortlisted for Prestigious PPI Award
International Paper’s ‘Little Book’ series around the sustainability of the pulp and paper
industry has been nominated for one of the industry’s most prestigious awards
Brussels, Belgium, – September 21, 2011 – International Paper today announced that the
company has been short-listed for the ‘Promotional Campaign of the Year’ in the 3 rd annual
2011 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Awards. The PPI Awards are the only global awards
dedicated to recognizing this type of achievements in the sector.
International Paper has been nominated for its ‘Little Book’ campaign which is part of a
straight talking initiative developed by International Paper in its communications to try to tell
‘The Sustainability Story’ of the pulp and paper industry more effectively and make it easier
for people and especially the younger generation to understand some of the key facts about
how sustainable the industry really is. ‘The Little Green Book’ dispels the common myths and
misconceptions about paper while ‘The Little Book of Commonsense’ reminds every one why
paper is as good, as relevant and as right today as ever. To view or order the booklets, visit the
‘Sustainability’ section at www.internationalpaper.com/EMEA.
Mark Rushton, Editor of PPI magazine and chairman of the jury for the PPI Awards 2011,
commented: "The PPI Awards are now in their third year and the quality and quantity of the
entries is better than ever. We’ve received more entries from all parts of the globe this year
from the USA to China, and Europe to South America. Making the shortlist is a fantastic
achievement for all the companies involved due to the high calibre of entries. However we
would also like to thank all the people who took the time to enter this year. I look forward to
seeing the finalists in Brussels in November.”
David Higgins, Director of Communications and Government Relations for International
Paper EMEA said: “These awards are regarded as a universal benchmark of quality within the
paper and pulp industry. Being short listed together with such competition is an honour and is
the culmination of a lot of hard work by our employees around the world”.
Industry renowned names such as Teresa Presas (CEPI), Duncan Pollard (Nestlé), Rod Young
(RISI) and Martyn Eustace (Two Sides) were involved in the judging, along with other experts
in different fields. RISI will be publishing more information on the finalists in the November
issue of PPI magazine as well as on the RISI and PPI Awards websites. Due to an
overwhelming amount of high level entries in the Promotional Campaign category, RISI
decided to split the category into two sections to better represent the entries received.
This year’s winners will be announced at a spectacular ceremony at ‘Le Plaza Hotel’ in
Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
