athletes to maintain out of season physical fitness and to participate in skill development
programs. These programs may include, but are not limited to, open gyms, camp
attendance, weight training, and conditioning workouts. GHSA rules concerning out of
season participation will be strictly adhered to by all coaches. Conflicts arising between
involved. If a resolution cannot be reached, the Athletic Director should be consulted to
arbitrate.
WEIGHT ROOM AND GYMNASIUM USAGE
The weight room and gymnasiums are off limits to students unless an EJCHS employee
is present to supervise the usage. When athletes are permitted to use these areas, they are
expected to treat the areas with respect, keeping food and drinks out of the facility, and
return all equipment to its proper storage area when finished.
PROFESSIONALISM
Each coach shall demonstrate a professional manner, presenting a positive role model to
athletes, parents, and the community as a whole. Each coach shall stress the value of
good sportsmanship with their athletes, coaching staff, and parents, and will
address inappropriate behavior with any and all when appropriate. Each coach
shall also recognize that officials do not like to be embarrassed and should be
treated with respect. The practice of working for a penalty, technical foul, or yellow
card should never occur. Each coach shall recognize that East Jackson is a cooperative
community and that it is the intent of the school to provide opportunity for athletic
participation while recognizing that academics come first. Each coach shall recognize
that as a cooperative community East Jackson students are encouraged to participate in
parents. Each coach shall constantly strive to continue self improvement, recognizing that
learning is a lifetime experience. Varsity head coaches are expected to communicate
opportunities for clinics or other learning experiences for coaches in cooperation with the
budget and policies set forth by the athletic department. Each coach shall be familiar with
the policies and expectations of the East Jackson athletic department.
Each coach shall dress for practice and games in a manner which best represents a
positive image for East Jackson High School and the Athletic Department.
