GIRLS GOLF: Athletes may earn a letter by having a qualifying score in 4 matches or<br />

play in the region tournament.<br />

BOYS SOCCER: Athletes are required to play at least 3 full varsity contests during the<br />

season to be eligible for lettering.<br />

GIRLS SOCCER: Athletes are required to play at least 3 full varsity contests during the<br />

season to be eligible for lettering.<br />

SOFTBALL: Athletes that are officially announced in 8 varsity contests may earn a<br />

varsity letter.<br />

TENNIS (BOYS AND GIRLS): Athletes are required to play in 1/2 the matches during a<br />

season and must be one of the top 7 players, not exhibition player, to be eligible for<br />

lettering.<br />

TRACK (BOYS AND GIRLS): Athletes may earn a varsity letter by competing in at<br />

least 90% of regular scheduled meets, accumulating a total of 30 points throughout the<br />

season, the athlete must also be available to compete in region and state competitions.<br />

Additionally, athletes must attend all practices according to the coach’s requirements.<br />

VOLLEYBALL:<br />

Athletes may earn a letter by playing in 1/2 of the varsity matches.<br />

WRESTLING: Athletes may earn a Varsity letter by wrestling in 9 varsity matches.<br />

Coaching Policies and Expectations<br />

All <strong>East</strong> <strong>Jackson</strong> athletic programs are governed by the rules and regulations of the<br />

Georgia <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Association (GHSA), which may be found in the GHSA ―White<br />

Book.‖ It is the responsibility of each coach, and especially each head varsity coach, to<br />

see that all rules and regulations are followed at all times. Any questions or concerns<br />

regarding GHSA policies should be brought to the attention of the athletic director as<br />

soon as possible. Varsity head coaches and program coordinators should review the white<br />

book at the beginning of the season. This information is available on the GHSA website.<br />

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION AND FORMS<br />

Each coach must supply the <strong>Athletic</strong> <strong>Department</strong> with a roster of students who are on a<br />

team beginning with the first day and update it every time there is an addition, deletion,<br />

or level change. At no time should a student be allowed to tryout or participate in a<br />

practice unless he has valid (1) Physical, (2) Participation, and (3) Insurance Information<br />

forms on file in the <strong>Athletic</strong>s Office.<br />

ATTENDANCE POLICY<br />

If a student/athlete does not attend school by 11:00 a.m., he/she will not be allowed to<br />

participate in athletic practices or contests that evening except in the case of one of the<br />

following exceptions:<br />
