Fairey Fox: A series of biplanes devloped by Avions Belgium long after the<br />

orig<strong>in</strong>al Fox stopped be<strong>in</strong>g produced <strong>in</strong> England. When first produced <strong>in</strong><br />

1926, it was as agile and fast as a fighter. All had fixed gear, open cockpits.<br />

Fox III: Available 1934. First version built by Belgium. Still fly<strong>in</strong>g as recon <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>1940</strong>.<br />

Fox VIII: Avail 1938. F<strong>in</strong>al version of the Fox biplane. Equipped 1 squadron <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>May</strong>-40. Added two more MGs (W1,W2) on the top w<strong>in</strong>g; use total to right of<br />

slash. 15 built.<br />

Fairy Fox VII Kangarou: S<strong>in</strong>gle-seat fighter version of Fox VI. called “Kangarou”<br />

due to the position of its radiator, which had been moved back to set the<br />

Center of Gravity. Obsolete well before development f<strong>in</strong>ished, it was not put<br />

<strong>in</strong>to production and Belgium looked to buy more modern <strong>aircraft</strong> (Hurricanes<br />

and Hawk 75As; none arrived for <strong>May</strong>, <strong>1940</strong>). 2 built; 1 used by Major Willi<br />

Coppens, the other returned to Fox VIR configuration.<br />
