Program Orientation and Safety Statement
SchoolStudentParent/Guardian Agreement
I give my child permission to participate in the Holland 2006 trip organized and
sponsored by Sidwell Friends Auxiliary Programs including all transportation
and activities contracted with by the school as part of the trip. We, the
undersigned, understand and agree that:
1. Participants are not allowed to possess or use any tobacco products, narcotics,
or alcoholic beverages during the trip. Violation of this agreement will result
in dismissal from the trip to return home at the parent/guardian’s expense.
In addition, participants agree to abide by any rules established by the School
and/or trip leaders. The School reserves the right to place an uncooperative
participant on a return flight home at any time, at the parent/guardian’s
expense and without refund.
2. Sidwell Friends School is not required to provide any refund for late arrival,
early withdrawal or dismissal from the program. Except as provided in
paragraph 3 below, at this point, deposits and tuition fees are nonrefundable.
3. Sidwell Friends School reserves the right to cancel any program prior to
departure. Should this be the case, full refunds will be given without further
obligation on the part of the School.
4. The School is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal
property. We recommend that students not travel with large sums of money,
expensive cameras, jewelry, etc.
5. Due to weather, schedule changes and unforeseen circumstances, the trip
itinerary may change. The School will do its best to find a comparable activity
to replace any cancellations. The School will not provide refunds in the events
of such changes from the planned schedule.
6. Participants in this program will engage in foreign travel, travel within the
United States and within foreign countries, and recreational and education
activities within foreign countries. Although the trip has been planned and
will be supervised by professional and experienced staff with prudent safety

precautions in mind, such travel and activities does involve an inherent risk of
injury. By signing this agreement, the parents/guardians assume that risk.
7. Not every child is ready to handle the experience of several weeks of travel
away from the normal comforts of home. We ask parents/guardians to
provide an assurance that they believe their child is ready for this experience.
Sidwell Friends School will make every effort to accommodate normal
adjustments that children of this age can be expected to experience on a trip
of this nature.
Upon first meeting as a group, participants will have an orientation meeting
where the basic rules of the trip will be reviewed and explained. These rules are
to insure the health, safety and happiness of all participants. All members of the
trip are expected to obey the trip rules and to be fair, truthful and considerate of
others. Any infractions could result in dismissal from the trip.
