I am Jeffrey Davidson, the partner who heads the Forensics and
Litigation Support team within Crowe Clark Whitehill.
We assist the legal profession, regulators, law enforcement
agencies and other professional clients engaged in contentious
and investigation work, by preparing expert financial information,
analysis and reports for both litigation support and investigations.
As a member of the Crowe Horwath International network,

Our experience
Our work is as varied as our clients and the challenges
they bring us, and it would be impossible to describe
every case. However, this small selection will give you
an idea of the scope and nature of our work.
Recouping losses made on
the basis of wrong information
A successful day trader was suing a firm of
brokers for losses caused by their fraud.
The brokers had led him to believe he was
trading successful when in fact he was losing
money. We analysed the trader’s performance
before and after the fraud in order to calculate
the losses suffered, with the result that he was
awarded damages of £20 million.
Investigating on behalf of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales
We worked for the Joint Disciplinary
Committee of the ICAEW in the investigation
of the quality of audit work undertaken for an
insurance company. Interviewing key members
of the audit team and reviewing the work in the
light of applicable auditing standards, we
prepared a detailed report of our findings.
Calculating earnings lost and
the impact on potential expansion
The owner of a printing company suffered
injuries in an accident and was unable to
return to full-time work. As well as calculating
his loss of earnings we considered the
potential impact if the business had upgraded
its printing equipment, and whether this was a
financially viable option.
Identifying frauds discovered
in a recently-bought business
The claimant was seeking damages against
a number of parties after buying a business
where it turned out a number of frauds were
being committed. We identified the frauds and
traced the movement of funds through various
bank accounts around the world.
Valuing income stream in a
matrimonial dispute
We calculated the future revenue generated by
the family business, which involved valuing the
parties’ shareholdings in a number of
businesses and providing information on
specific tax issues.
Reducing a company’s VAT bill
A large chain of public houses which had
not registered for VAT was charged with
deliberately evading VAT in the region of
£2 million. We tracked the movement of
monies and established their VAT liabilities,
reducing the purported tax at risk to
£1.2 million. The matter was settled out of court.
