Nancy Scott
President
Powertek Corporation
Possessing a strong entrepreneurial spirit coupled with 15 years of demonstrated experience pursuing, winning, and managing
large Government and commercial information technology contracts, Ms. Scott began Powertek in 2001.
During Powertek’s first 3 years of operation, Ms. Scott pursued smaller subcontracts performed at customer sites and requiring minimal
overhead. The firm’s first prime contract, awarded by the Department of Treasury’s Financial Management Service for $256,000,
netted Powertek a Meritorious Achievement Award from the Assistant Commissioner of Management in April 2004.
In 2005, Ms. Scott led the implementation of three strategic business goals: achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification, obtain a Top Secret
facility clearance, and establish a corporate proposal center. The following year, Ms. Scott brought on board a partner who serves
as the Chief Operating Officer to assist in growing the business and to oversee the daily operations of Powertek’s contracts. Ms.
Scott then hired a Chief Technology Officer to identify and implement technology enhancements, to provide value-added services to
customers, and to run Powertek’s Program Management Office.
During the past year, Powertek has been awarded three competitive multi-year prime contracts valued at $13.5 million (Export-Import
Bank of the United States); $25 million (NASA Ames Research Center); and $29 million (Department of the Treasury/Office of the
Comptroller of the Currency). Current goals include building Powertek’s Department of Defense business base and focusing on
opportunities under the firm’s Government-wide acquisition vehicles: GSA Schedule 70, STARS, MOBIS, and FABS; Navy Seaport-e
and MATOC; and Army Strategic Services Sourcing.
Through Ms. Scott’s oversight, Powertek has received the following awards/citations over the past three years:
Ranked #41 on the List of 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Owned/Led Businesses in North America by Entrepreneur Magazine and
the Women Presidents’ Organization
Ranked #25 on Washington Technology’s 2007 Fast 50 List, honoring the 50 fastest-growing small businesses in the Government IT market.
2006 Department of Treasury Protégé of the Year.
Ms. Scott holds a degree in journalism/public relations from Utica College of Syracuse University and has completed numerous
graduate and technical courses. An Army “brat,” she grew up throughout the United States as well as in Germany, Panama, and
Japan. She is married with two grown daughters. She started her career working for small firms, where she provided progressively
responsible business development and management services. Ms. Scott participates in a number of community involvement programs
designed to promote career opportunities for women and minorities.
