Introduction
• The objective of this study is to understand the
depositional processes and paleo-environments
during early stage of foreland basin development in
southern Taiwan (Ailioachioa Formation, early
Pliocene).

Discussion
• The absence of bioturbation indicates high
depositional rate or anoxic environments in
the lower part of Ailioachioa formation.
• Various magnitude of storm can form
different thickness of storm beds in the same
environment.
• The symmetric bedform of climbing ripples
may be formed during storms.
Various magnitude of storm can form different thick of storm
beds in same environment.
The symmetric bedform of climbing ripple maybe formed during
storm.
Conclusions
• The boundary between of Yenshuikeng and
Ailioachioa formation is Sharp contact.
• The environment in Lower part of Ailioachioa
is dominated by wave and tidal-influenced
delta.
• The environment in Lower part of Ailioachioa
is dominated by wave-influenced open marine.
Sedimentary rocks present coarsening and
thickening form offshore to near shore.
