MAIN AREAS OF RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Areas of research experience include soil, residues and plant analysis by atomic absorption spectrometry for the investigation of heavy-metal contamination and quality control of waters and wastewaters, including treatment and reuse. Reclamation of soils at abandoned mining sites using organic residues and phytoremediation strategies. Soil quality assessment considering: chemical, biochemical, microbial and ecotoxicological tools. This experience is applied and developed at the Investigation Laboratories of the Agricultural Superior School of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, Portugal, which also provide public service to the local community.
