CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Your child is invited to attend the IEYMS Summer Program. The program will be for 6 th and 7 th grade students,
and is designed to strengthen the essential literacy skills and math skills necessary for success in all subject
areas. Building literacy and math skills is imperative for proficiency on all New York State Assessments.
The dates for the program are Monday – Thursday from July 2 nd – July 26 th , 2012, with the exception of July
4th. Students should arrive in their classrooms no later than 8:30 am, and will be dismissed at 12:30 pm.
We will provide a mid-morning snack. Transportation will NOT be provided; therefore, please make your own
arrangements for drop-off and pick-up.
As educators, we like to partner with parents to enhance the accomplishments of our students. A partnership
offers greater opportunities for your child’s academic future. Please support your child in the summer program
by attending a meeting for parents on Wednesday, June 27 th , 2012 at 12:00 pm in room 236 at IEYMS.
This informational meeting will be approximately 30 minutes.
Please complete the attached registration form to reserve your child’s place in the program. Return all
completed forms to their homeroom teacher by Wednesday, June 13. If you have any questions about the
