The FALCOM XT55-GSC3<br />

The XT55-GSC3 based on the XT55-<br />

GPS module, is designed to be used<br />

on any GSM network. This single and<br />

very small (35 x 53 x 5 mm) compact<br />

device, maintained features from the<br />

predecessor XT55-GPS module from<br />

Siemens, is a Tri-band GSM/GPRS engine<br />

that works on the three frequencies<br />

GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz, it also supports<br />

state-of-art GPS technology for satellite<br />

navigation.<br />

The XT55-GSC3 is a combined GSM/<br />

GPRS/GPS device that allows easy<br />

upgrade of the performance of existing<br />

XT55-GPS system solutions. The XT55-<br />

GSC3 is designed for application<br />

that prefers to use board-to-board<br />

connection to the main PCB application<br />

platform. The combination of these<br />

three technologies in such a small formfactor<br />

device will make many new<br />

asset-tracking applications possible,<br />

particularly in the fields of transportation,<br />

logistics and security. This combination<br />

concept builds the perfect basis for the<br />

design tracking solutions for applications<br />

such as fleet management, vehicle<br />

tracking, navigation, emergency calling,<br />

location-based services and others. It<br />

saves significantly both time and cost<br />

for integration of additional hardware<br />

components.<br />

The XT55-GSC3 incorporates 8 Mb of<br />

FLASH memory.<br />

Applications<br />

The integrated GPS<br />

module provides more<br />

than enough precise<br />

location information using<br />

satellite signals to enable<br />

users to determine where<br />

they are anywhere in<br />

the world. For battery<br />

powered applications,<br />

XT55-GSC3 features a<br />

charging control that<br />

can be used to charge<br />

a Li-Ion battery. The<br />

charging circuit must be<br />

implemented external<br />

the module on your<br />

application platform.<br />
