The Board meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Randall Sellhorn.
Other Board members present: Carol Hillman, David Keller, Timothy Lewis, Miles
Postema, Tamara Schollaart. Regrets: Laura Featherston. Others present: Dr.
Michael Shibler, Mike Cuneo, Jamie Hosford, Dr. Ryan Kelley, Marlene Clark.
President Sellhorn opened the meeting with a moment of silence.
Motion was made by Miles Postema, supported by Tamara Schollaart, approving
the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Director of Athletics Tim Erickson introduced Girls’ Water Polo Coach Scott Voltz,
who presented members of the 2012 State Championship Water Polo Team. Board
Vice President Hillman distributed certificates of recognition to:

Jeff Steendam, Lisa Kreager, and Christie Ramsey, candidates for the Rockford Board
of Education seat, introduced themselves. Interviews are scheduled for June 18.
The following candidates for the Cannon Township Board introduced themselves
stating they look forward to the opportunity to work with the Board of Education:
Dennis Smith, Ken Carozza, Annamarie Bauer, Jim Alles, and Jim Mapes-Pearson.
Tim Nelson and Rob McBrien were unable to attend.

consent agenda items as follows:

1. The Board of Education moved to the gymnasium for a performance by the
RHS Odyssey of the Mind world competition team, under the direction of
RHS OM Coach Joan Lawton.

2. Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Dr. Ryan Kelley, along with Executive
Director of Community Services Lisa Jacobs and REF representatives Sue
Arend and Jill Ericksen, reported on the 2012 Rockford Hall of Fame. The
2012 Honorary Chair is Jamie Hosford, and the 2012 inductees are as
follows:

2012 Rockford Hall of Fame
1. Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Jamie Hosford presented
changes to the 2012-13 secondary student handbook made following the
first reading in May. Upon recommendation of Dr. Shibler, motion was
made by Carol Hillman, supported by Tamara Schollaart, approving the
changes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
1. Mr. Hosford reported to the Board of Education the staff members who are
recommended for recall effective the 2012-13 school year after a two-year
layoff. Upon recommendation of Dr. Shibler, motion was made by Miles
Postema, supported by David Keller, approving the recalls of Cheri
Dettwiler, Erika Koster, and Katie Kraft. Motion carried unanimously.

2. Director of Athletics Tim Erickson presented proposed changes to the OK
Conference Handbook. Upon recommendation of Dr. Shibler, motion was
made by Tamara Schollaart, supported by Timothy Lewis, casting a “yes”
vote approving the changes to the OK Conference Handbook in highlighted
areas of the OK Conference Constitution and Athletic Commission as
presented. Motion carried unanimously.
President Sellhorn adjourned the meeting at 8:40 p.m.
