CMS, Lucknow presents, in association with Children’s Film Society of India,
Free Entry with entry passes in Local Cinema Halls, CMS Gomti Nagar and Kanpur Road branches
City Montessori School, in association with
the Children’s Film Society of India, is organising a
5 day long Children’s Film Festival, from 9 th April to
13 th April for the children of Lucknow. A large
number of highly entertaining, educative and
inspiring films revolving round the life and activities
of children will be shown free of charge in five
will also be shown free of charge at CMS
Gomtinagar and Kanpur Road branch airconditioned
auditoriums, from 5 pm to 9 pm
The need of Children's Film Festival: The
need for Children Film Festival has been felt in
view of the bad impact that is being created on
massive scale by television, electronic and print
media, bad internet chatting and misuse of SMS
etc, crept in society due to criminality and immoral
acts that are casting a negative impact on
children’s mind.
Children's Films will re-orient children's
attitude: The films to be shown will re-orient
children’s attitude towards parents, teachers and
society. It is well known fact that films create
powerful influence on impressionable minds of
children for good or bad. These educative
children’s films will motivate and inspire children
to change their mindset to be a good human being, a good family member, a good citizen of the
country and a good citizen of the world.
Students can see the films only with one of their parents: Students of Schools of Lucknow
will be allowed entry to the cinema halls only with one of their parent either father, or mother or other
adult guardian for the above educative films with free entry pass. Above cinema halls will issue free
entry passes to the parent/guardian on presentation of students' identity cards on first come first
Developing good communication with children
“You never listen to me” is a complaint heard as often
from children as parents. Good communication helps
children and parents to develop confidence, feelings of
self-worth, and good relationships with others. Try
these tips:
• Teach children to listen... gently touch a child
before you talk... say their name.
• Speak in a quiet voice... whisper sometimes so
children have to listen... they like this.
• Look a child in the eyes so you can tell when they
understand... bend or sit down... become the child’s
size.
• Practice listening and talking: talk with your family
about what you see on TV, hear on the radio or see
at the park or store. (Talk with your children about
school and their friends.)
• Respect children and use a courteous tone of voice.
If we talk to our children as we would our friends,
our youngsters may be more likely to seek us out
as confidants.
• Catch children and teens being good. Praise them
for cooperating with you or their siblings, or for
doing those little things that are so easy to take for
granted.
• Use door openers that invite children to say more
about an incident or their feelings. “I see,” “Oh,”
“tell me more,” “No kidding,” “Really,”
“Mmmmhmmmmm,” “Say that again, I want to be
sure I understand you.”
• Praise builds a child’s confidence and reinforces
communication. Unkind words tear children down
and teach them that they just aren’t good enough.
• Children are never too old to be told they are loved.
Saying “I love you” is important. Writing it in a note
provides the child with a reminder that he can hold
on to.
• Give your undivided attention when your children
want to talk to you. Don’t read, watch TV, fall asleep
or make yourself busy with other tasks.
A normal day of my life
Hello, my name is Shivangi. A normal day of my life
usually starts around 6:00 am when I wake up at my
mom’s call. It is the time when, some members of my
family are still sleeping. My mom has completed a
number of household work and now, she will be busy
with me for next couple of hours until I leave home for
school.
I get out of bed when my mom kisses me on my
forehead. I go to the bathroom and after that my mom
gives me the school uniform. As I dress up, my mother
is ready with my breakfast. Usually, it is a glass of milk
and a slice of bread with butter.
My mother prepares tiffin for me in the meantime.
Sometimes I wonder how she is able to do everything
so fast! By this time I am ready for school. My autorickshaw
comes to pick me up at 7:30 am. This is the
transport by which I go to school. When I reach school
I get busy in my class. I enjoy my studies; I play with
my friends. My school teachers teach us with great
dedication. At 1:20 pm, my school gets over and I come
back home by 2:00 pm. At this time, my parents are not
at home. They are in the office. Manjoo Aunty looks
after me at home. My parents come back home in the
evening. There are many mud houses opposite my
apartment. I look at them. In one of these mud houses a
girl Durga lives. She is of my age. She asks me as to
what am I doing I tell her that I have to complete my
homework.
Even Durga likes to go school. Sometimes I wonder
as to why she does not go to school. At night, after
dinner, I go off to sleep. Before I sleep, my mother asks
me to pray to God. I pray for Durga and other girls like
her that even they get the chance to go to school.
My teacher
I study in CMS Peace Building. There are several
teachers in my school. But Mrs. Singh is my favourite
teacher. She teaches us English. She is a learned lady.
She everyday reads something new to us.
She is always well dressed. She believes in simple living
and high thinking. She treats us like a mother. She seldom
punishes us. She likes to rule by love and not by the rod.
She takes great pain in her work.
She spares no pains to develop in her students habits
of hard and honest work. She is very regular and
punctual. She is against too many holidays.
She is an ideal teacher of our school. She is a great
source of inspiration to her students. She is respected
everywhere for her honesty, sincerity and hard work.
Teachers like her are rarely found. I have all love,
affection and respect for her.
Please do not kill me for my skin. I am your National
Animal. I do not harm you until and unless you harm
me. So, don’t kill me otherwise the coming generation
will see me only in magazines and pictures. This is our
call. Please accept it.
Cricket
My favourite sport is cricket
I watch cricket matches on T.V.
Sachin Tendulkar is a one of the best batsmen of the
world.
Rahul Dravid is the captain of the Indian team.
There are eleven players in each team.
Two match umpires remain on the pitch.
One team plays a 50-over match in one day game.
There are six balls in a over.
I like all-rounder players who make a lot of runs.
Team winning the match gets the trophy, by scoring the
runs.
Plants
In a jungle, the plants and trees grow freely. In a
town and city, there is a limited space left for growing
plants and trees due to roads and buildings. Here plants
and trees are grown along the road side or in gardens.
People often grow plants in pots and sometimes in
gardens in their homes. Some plants are grown for their
uses while most are grown only for flowers and beauty.
But everyone should plant trees.
My little pussy cat
I love little pussy,
Her coat is so warm,
And if I don’t hurt her,
She’ll do me no harm.
So I’ll not pull her tail,
Nor drive her away,
But pussy and I,
Very gently will play.
Riya Shukla, I G
Rajendra Nagar I
My favourite sport
My favourite sport is cricket. Cricket is very popular
in India. There are so many countries playing cricket
like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, England etc.
England is the father of cricket. The Indian team is very
good. Rahul Dravid is the captain of the Indian team. He
is a very good captain and batsman. The game of cricket
is played by two teams. There are three departments in
this game. One is batting, second is bowling and third is
fielding. In our team Sachin Tendulkar is my favourite
player. He is a very famous player all over the world. He
is very good batsman and he can bowl also. Sachin holds
so many records in cricket. Two types of cricket are
normally popular. One is One Day match and second is
the Test match. I like One Day matches. Every four
year cricket world cup event happens. Australia won
the last world cup. Australia is the no.1 team of world.
This year, the world cup is being played in the West
Indies. Irfan Pathan and Anil Kumble are the main
bowlers of Indian team. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is our
wicket keeper. He is a very good hitter of the bowl. I
love cricket very much.
CMS BULLETIN - CREATIVE SECTION - SENIOR AND JUNIOR APRIL 2007 (7)
HEALTH COLUMN
Chips and Patties - the common items selling in the canteens - Are they snacks or
in reality health contaminants
Let's see what goes into making these chips. The ingredient list behind a packet of
your favourite chips would reveal:
Potato, Oil, Salt, Preservatives and Synthetic flavors.
Besides the potato which is the only food item, the rest of the ingredients are
highly toxic for your body. The potato itself is highly processed and fried
rendering it completely nutritionless.
The synthetic chemicals present in the chips burden your body's capacity to cleanse itself. They
affect the nerves of the child making him irritable, noisy, giving him headaches, weakening his
digestive capacity and also depleting his resistance to fighting disease.
HOW CAN A CHEMICAL MAKE A COMPONENT OF YOUR CHILD'S EYE, HAIR, AND NOSE OR FOR
THAT MATTER HER BRAIN
You weaken your child's brain potential every time she is given a packet of chips.
The Patty is made from MAIDA and vegetable filling. Inside the patty is applied oil on various layers
to prevent it from sticking together. Besides the excess oil there is Maida which sticks inside the
stomach and intestines of the child giving him stomach aches, constipation, headaches,
gas and bloating.
The stomach has to work double hard to extract nutrition from it — which the Maida can not
provide. The extra work of the stomach and intestines tires the child's body making him fatigued,
listless, tired and lethargic. His ability to study comes down further and he is less
inclined to be active.
The small amount of vegetable filling hardly nourishes or satifies the child's hunger. The result is a
full stomach and empty body.
The stomach sack is full while the body starves.
The young child requires potent foods, healthy options and vital nourishment to nurture
the growing muscles and bones. The body's ability is dependent on the foods you give it. Give
it the best and you will have the best built body - full of health, strength and vigor.
The CMS Republic Day Tableau
‘Arise, Aware And Unite’. It’s very
clear that if not just now, then never. We
will all have to get up just now to unite
the world. When we will give peace a
chance, love and unity will be there.
People will enjoy, people will dance.
dynasties have passed; centuries have
gone and have become a part of History.
Some were great rulers, some great
invaders, they all had power, money,
health but they lacked one great power,
that’s ‘UNITY’. We all should be united
today, just now. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru
said, “Either the world will unite or it will
perish.” It’s believed that his saying is
going to be true in the coming few years.
Either we unite or will be perished in the
threat of hatred.
Children are believed to be the future
of the world. But they are being killed or
being deprived of their rights. They are
not getting good and moral education. So,
it is certain that in future, they won’t do
anything beneficial for mankind.
Education shapes the future of children
born and those yet-to-be-born. In CMS
we all are not only gaining material
knowledge but spiritual knowledge too.
It’s truly said peace is the need of hour.
One day, people would realize their mistake
and would beg for everlasting peace.
People would long for World Parliament
where all the nations would be knitted
together by a thread of peace, love and
unity. Through its Republic Day Tableau
this year, CMS emphasized on the need
of empowering the International Court of
Chips and Patties
Eureka international 2006 was a four-day event held
from 24 to 27 November 2006. 24 th was the inaugural
function with various programmes like World
Parliament, World Peace Prayer, Aerobics, Grand Finale,
etc. It was a colourful evening. I took part in World
Parliament and Choreography.
The next day, 25 th was full of competitions like
Kaleidoscopic Dawn, Laudable Wisecracks, Vox Populi
etc. It was a very exciting day. We had dinner on the
pool side. We sang songs and danced.
26 th of November —another exciting day in our
life. On this day, we had competitions like Vanity Fair in
which the teams had to enact a drama; Sleight of Hand
was a competition in which the children had to make
collages, Free Your Mind competition was for the
primary children in which they had to present their art
Justice.
If we take world’s 2 billion children
and 36,000 nuclear bombs, both would
be of same weight. It is upto us to decide
what we value more. Is it the future of 2
billion children or 36,000 nuclear bombs
2 billion world’s children are the future of
tomorrow, as we believe. Through their
participation in the Chief Justices
Conferences organized by CMS, the
judges of different nations are putting their
best efforts to safeguard the future of
world’s 2 billion children.
We all believe that the source of all
the religions is just one God. It’s the
Almighty who comes in different forms
on this earth to teach us and to help us. A
World Government is wanted by each one
of us. Our Founder, Mr Gandhi is making
all efforts to unite the world. We should
make his dream of uniting the world come
true.
Spring dream
I often had a dream,
Of a wonderful spring;
When I can live happily,
With my friends and family;
With flowers blooming all around,
And I’m living in a beautiful town!!
Everywhere is love and peace,
Everyone living merrily;
With birds chirping all around,
And I’m living in a beautiful town!!!
Eureka 2006 — a report
Books versus TV
Everybody asked the child,
“What will you select
Your old and dusty books,
Or your brand new TV set”
The child replied,
“I’d love to fancy the TV set,
But one must understand,
That Television is the worst enemy
A child can have on land.
Firstly it occupies the child,
It changes his brain to lead.
It changes him to couch potato
It kills his imagination dead.
The books on the other hand,
Are the best of man’s creations.
They improve the child’s wit and humour;
They give wings to his imagination.”
The people nodded to the truth,
Like statues they stood.
And when they left,
‘Books are better than the television,
They had understood.
Hardy Boys
Hardy Boys are famous, American
detective stories. It’s written by Franklin
W. Dixon, I read Book no. 20, Hardy
Boys: The Mystery of the Flying Express.
It was an exciting book. It had twenty
chapters and 177 pages. I read 10 chapters
which were very interesting. There were
some laughter and a lot of mystery. This
whole story is about Frank Hardy, Chent
and Joe. They lived in the quite street of
Bayport. Hardy had solved many cases
like the Tower Treasure, The disappearing
floor, etc.
Revolution
Everywhere there is a war for supremacy,
Youth have read the crisis in history.
Nuclear and biological weapons’
preparation is mystery,
Due to progress of weapons in chemistry.
Leaders have gone blind in meteors
Subjects are terrified in their homes.
Ministers are holding their regional flags,
Soldiers are preparing weapons in their
bag.
World lies on the muzzle of gun,
A killer is making humanity’s fun.
Our ancestors said war is a game and told
us to give bomb a try,
Unfortunately, everyone in this game have
started to cry.
Let’s put the universal values in our heart,
In UNO, each nation should take part.
Each nation’s co-operation be like a
solvent,
And UNO, try to make a World
Government.
"To overcome evil with good is good, to resist evil by evil is evil." — The Prophet Mohammad
in showing projects. After the competitions the children
were taken for sightseeing to different parts of Lucknow.
Then they were taken to CMS, Rajajipuram for dinner.
27 th of November, the most exciting day, had
competitions like Merry Querries, a general quiz for the
students of the primary section and Eureka Reportage
for the junior section in which the students reported
about Eureka. Next, we had the closing ceremony with
the wonderful Bhangra presentation by the students of
our school. Next, we had the prize distribution. All teams
won prizes and were very happy. After that the
teamsfrom Iran, Nepal, Sri Lanka or from different parts
of India, started to leave. With this, the mega event
Eureka came to an end.
And the fattest of men could fly!
If pebbles could sing,
And bells never ring;
If teachers don’t teach,
If a tortoise could run,
And losses be won.
Love and Peace
Love in itself is beautiful,
It gives us friends who are faithful,
It also means God is kind,
For someone who has a peaceful mind.
Love is life,
A symbol of great strife,
It is a feeling of sharing,
And also, a way of really caring.
Abhinav Dixit, X A
Indira Nagar
Study is fun
Study is fun, study is fun,
If we don’t study,
Our life’s work is undone.
While studying we get some knowledge,
So that we can do well in college.
Some books tell us
About lordly kings and crowns,
And some about lordly towns.
Some about pens and examination,
And some about human population.
So we say study is fun,
If we don’t study, our life’s work is
undone.
