Step Four: Selection of Priorities<br />

Foster discussion about the relationships between women and men in institutions<br />

where discrimination based on gender is perceived;<br />

solicit views and opinions on results of previous actions to tackle gender inequality;<br />

reach a common understanding of priority changes required and identify who is<br />

responsible for bringing these changes about.<br />

Step Five: Reaching Agreement<br />

Facilitate a tripartite agreement in selected areas to advance gender equality;<br />

anticipate obstacles and constraints and prepare activities accordingly;<br />

assist in the definition of follow-up actions for analysis, including a plan and timetable<br />

to sustain social dialogue.<br />

3. How can gender analysis workshops help<br />

Gender analysis workshops can be conducted to consider the structure of the economy<br />

and the labour market. For example, if the country has a large agricultural sector, a<br />

specific workshop (or series of workshops) could be organized for this sector. Tripartite<br />

representation is encouraged. Inviting members of civil society to participate as well helps<br />

to expand the impact of social dialogue. Gender expertise is required.<br />
