<strong>Goodwill</strong> offers free computer classes<br />

for veterans <strong>and</strong> their families<br />

PITTSBURGH, August 14, 2013 – <strong>Goodwill</strong> of Southwestern Pennsylvania invites military<br />

veterans <strong>and</strong> members of their immediate families <strong>to</strong> sign up for a free class in basic<br />

computer skills that will be offered at several Pittsburgh area locations during September.<br />

The three-<strong>and</strong>-a-half-hour class offers introduc<strong>to</strong>ry training in key computer<br />

subjects such as Microsoft Windows / File Management, Internet <strong>and</strong> Email, social media,<br />

<strong>and</strong> Microsoft Word. Training is provided by professional, experienced <strong>Goodwill</strong> teachers.<br />

“<strong>Goodwill</strong> is offering this free class for veterans <strong>and</strong> their families because we<br />

recognize that computer skills are increasingly essential in <strong>to</strong>day’s world, <strong>and</strong> some<br />

people have no affordable way of acquiring these skills,” said Ella Holsinger, Vice<br />

President of Human Services. “We are deeply committed <strong>to</strong> helping military members <strong>and</strong><br />

veterans be successful by providing a broad range of employment-related education <strong>and</strong><br />

training programs <strong>and</strong> services."<br />

The computer class will be offered at the following locations:<br />

Lawrenceville – <strong>Goodwill</strong> Workforce Development Center, 118 52nd Street<br />

Sept. 12, 4:30 p.m. <strong>to</strong> 8:00 p.m. <strong>and</strong> Sept. 13, 9:30 a.m. <strong>to</strong> 1:00 p.m.<br />

South Side – <strong>Goodwill</strong> Training Facility, 2400 E. Carson Street<br />

Sept. 19, 4:30 p.m. <strong>to</strong> 8:00 p.m. <strong>and</strong> Sept. 20, 9:30 a.m. <strong>to</strong> 1:00 p.m.<br />

North Side – Northside Common Ministries, 1601 Brigh<strong>to</strong>n Road<br />

Sept. 26, 4:30 p.m. <strong>to</strong> 8:00 p.m. <strong>and</strong> Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m. <strong>to</strong> 1:00 p.m.<br />

<strong>Goodwill</strong> will hold additional classes later in the year based on the response <strong>to</strong> the<br />
