Goodwill offers free computer classes
for veterans and their families
PITTSBURGH, August 14, 2013 – Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania invites military
veterans and members of their immediate families to sign up for a free class in basic
computer skills that will be offered at several Pittsburgh area locations during September.
The three-and-a-half-hour class offers introductory training in key computer
subjects such as Microsoft Windows / File Management, Internet and Email, social media,
and Microsoft Word. Training is provided by professional, experienced Goodwill teachers.
“Goodwill is offering this free class for veterans and their families because we
recognize that computer skills are increasingly essential in today’s world, and some
people have no affordable way of acquiring these skills,” said Ella Holsinger, Vice
President of Human Services. “We are deeply committed to helping military members and
veterans be successful by providing a broad range of employment-related education and
training programs and services."
The computer class will be offered at the following locations:
Lawrenceville – Goodwill Workforce Development Center, 118 52nd Street
Sept. 12, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sept. 13, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
South Side – Goodwill Training Facility, 2400 E. Carson Street
Sept. 19, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sept. 20, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
North Side – Northside Common Ministries, 1601 Brighton Road
Sept. 26, 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Goodwill will hold additional classes later in the year based on the response to the
