From the M1
Leave at junction 37 and follow the A628
to Barnsley. Turn right at traffic lights onto
the A6133 Broadway Park Road and right
again at the traffic lights onto the A61.
Turn right again into Highstone Road.
The home is on the right after a pub.
Four Seasons Health Care is one of the largest groups
in the UK predominantly devoted to the care of older
people. Several specialised centres, including some
catering for learning and physical disabilities, also form
part of the group.

to Highstone Mews Care Home
Highstone Mews Care Home is a two storey purpose built home
set in its own grounds within landscaped gardens. The home provides
a high standard of care in two units for general residential care and
residential and nursing care for people with dementia. The home
also provides respite care and a number of day care places.
Highstone Mews Care Home is located in the residential area of
Worsborough Common on the outskirts of Barnsley, close to the
M1 motorway. The home has easy access to local bus routes,
shops and other amenities.

First Class Care
A recent CQC inspection stated that
‘people received a good level of personal
care and residents said the staff are
really nice and that it’s a lovely home.
Relatives said the care is excellent’.
Our person centred approach means
that each resident is an individual treated
with respect and dignity. Each resident
has a named key worker and an
individual care plan. This will cover
their personal and medical history,
as well as a record of particular activities
they enjoy and any cultural or religious
aspects of their care.
Residents, and where appropriate their
families, are involved as far as practical
in the decisions regarding their care.
Emphasis on all aspects of care is the
Manager’s primary concern and,
together with the experienced team
of qualified staff, all adhere to rigorous
standards with internal audits and checks.
At Highstone Mews Care Home we
have an excellent working relationship
with the partners from the local GP
practice. We very much recognise the
importance of personal, individual and
resident focused care. To achieve this,
good communication between all
members of the care team, be they
nurses, carers, relatives or doctors,
is essential.

Facilities
Highstone Mews Care Home is set
in its own grounds with landscaped
gardens and has several seating areas
where residents can sit out in the warm
weather. The home is maintained to a
high standard and has excellent facilities
and attractive enclosed gardens.
The home has four bright spacious
lounges some with modern flat screen
television, video and DVD player and
there are also comfortable quiet lounges.
The accommodation provides residents
with a choice of environments in which
to relax or meet friends and relatives.
Residents are encouraged to personalise
their rooms and can choose their colour
scheme to make it feel more homely.
All of the bedrooms have en-suite
facilities and most rooms have lovely
garden views.
We have spacious communal dining
rooms where our Chef provides
nutritionally balanced menus that are
carefully prepared to ensure the best
combination of nutrition and flavour for
our residents. The residents and families
are consulted on their likes and dislikes
and we cater for all dietary requirements.
Highstone Mews Care Home has on-site
hairdressing facilities that are visited
regularly by an experienced stylist.
Other complementary therapies can
be tailored to individual needs and the
home is attended frequently by a
qualified chiropodist.
We encourage residents to follow
hobbies and interests; however there is
no pressure and each person is treated
as an individual. Family and friends are
welcome to visit at any time. We have
two Personal Activities Leaders who
ensure our residents can enjoy an active
social life if they wish and residents can
get involved in hobbies of their choice
and take part in activities that interest
them. The varied programme includes
handicrafts, quizzes, bingo and other
entertainment.

Types of Stay
Highstone Mews Care Home provides
care for a variety of needs. ‘Dillington’
unit provides both residential and
nursing care for people with dementia
and ‘Kingstone’ unit provides general
residential care. Both units provide
respite care. The home has a team
of qualified nurses and well trained
dedicated care assistants that provide
an excellent standard of 24 hour care.
We fully appreciate the stress associated
with leaving home to live in a new
location, and are happy to accept new
residents for an agreed trial period at
the end of which there would be no
further obligation.
