Leszek Czelusniak MIC speak about the growth and development of the Marian Rwanda mission and their service to the poor and unfortunate. A large part of their ministry is to help Rwandan Catholics grow in faith, hope and charity. One way is to share insights from the apparition of Mary in Rwanda, Our Lady of Kibeho. St. Peter parish is proud to support, in solidarity, this mission. In fact it was a St. Peter parishioner, Mr. Mark Debish, who designed the banners hanging in our sanctuary and in the Marian Missions sites. If you were not able to contribute to today’s collection, please contribute directly to the Marian Helper’s Center which coordinates support for the mission. 3 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time . In Gratitude We received a letter from Care Net Family Resource Center which expressed a great deal of gratitude for all who gave gifts at our parish baby shower two weeks ago. The letter is posted on the bulletin board in the lobby for those who would like to read it along with an itemized list of what was donated. We donated 7,854 baby care items, 2 strollers, 1 car seat, baby toiletry items, 410 clothing items and 23 other miscellaneous items totaling 8,429 donated items! One part of the letter reads “At a time when so many Americans are cutting back and actually hoarding personal wealth, your generosity truly is distinctive and exemplary. It is an obvious testament to your commitment to protecting the sanctity of human life, as well as your adherence to the admonition of Scripture to provide for the spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of one’s neighbor.” A special thank you to Fr. Robert Vennetti MIC whose leadership and direction made this Spiritual Adoption Program so successful. Thanks also to our Prayer and Worship Committee for their hard work and for all those who fervently prayed for all the unborn babies and their mothers the past 9 months. This was a great opportunity for us to grow spiritually and at the same time give a face and name to the many human lives that are in danger of being destroyed before they ever have a chance to take a breath. Please continue to pray for unborn babies and mothers who may feel frightened or unsupported in their pregnancy that God would embrace them all in His loving and tender care. Pick Up Anniversary Pictures Wedding photos that were dropped off at the rectory for our Anniversary celebration last month are still waiting to be picked up. Also, photos that were taken of all the couples at the gathering can be picked up at the rectory too. Thank you! Eucharistic Procession Thanks Praised be Jesus Christ for the splendid summer-like day as we walked in our 4th Annual Eucharistic Procession. A special thank you to all our Priests and our Deacon who were leading the way. The Altar servers of both parishes did a great job. It is no easy task to carry flags, banners and a crucifix this far. You are so appreciated! The much needed sound system worked excellently. We thank the generous donor for this gift. Thank you to Jim Brandt & Jerome for carry the speakers. Also to our members of the Police Department for keeping us safe. Mark your calendars for next year October 11 at 1:30 pm. School News Congratulations to our 2008-09 Student Council officers and representatives. The first meeting is next Wednesday, October 1st. All of the students’ speeches were well written and delivered articulately. Your posters were so colorful and meaningful. I commend all who ran for positions! Challenge. Engage. Jaki Grajera Bereavement Mass Prayer & Worship with the Bereavement Committee will host a Bereavement Mass on Wednesday, October 29 at 7 pm. Have you had someone special pass away in the last five years that you would like remembered during this Mass? If so, please fill out the form in the back of the church and put in the collection basket or give to the usher at the Mass you attend. Shalom Center Volunteers Thanks to Mary Lindblad, Kathy Uhl, Benita Hynes, Mary & Chris Kessenich, Marge Tunkieicz, Lillian Jilk, & Paula Thomas who prepared and served a meal for 82 homeless people and folks with limited means at the Shalom Center. The next shift will be Friday November 7. Bible Study This week in our Bible Study “The Bible and The Mass”, we will cover what Jesus meant when He said, “This is the Blood of the New Covenant”. Understanding Covenant is essential to understanding what Jesus established. Even if you missed the first session, please join us on Wednesday at 7 pm in the clubroom.
