CORE GRADING GUIDELINES FOR VALVES<br />
Good <strong>Core</strong><br />
• No major components damaged or missing<br />
One Part Damaged<br />
One major part damaged or missing<br />
Major parts include:<br />
• Damaged threads on connecting ports<br />
• Broken body<br />
• Broken cover<br />
• Broken bolts – if fl ush or below body<br />
• Missing internal components (i.e. piston)<br />
• Excessive corrosion or pitting<br />
• Broken fl ange mounts<br />
Scrap<br />
• Co-mingled parts<br />
• Competitor parts not in <strong>Bendix</strong> Truck Products<br />
• Two major parts damaged or missing<br />
• Obsolete or not in program parts<br />
What to look for<br />
• Valves must have <strong>Bendix</strong> logo or casting mark that begins with a "T".<br />
• Snap ring in bottom signifi es PR-4 valve.<br />
• "PR-2" is stamped on side of PR-2 valve. Valve does not have spring in bottom.<br />
CORE GRADING GUIDELINES FOR BRAKE SHOES<br />
Good <strong>Core</strong><br />
• No major components damaged or missing<br />
Scrap<br />
• Flared or mushroomed roller and anchor ends<br />
• Torch damage<br />
• Bent webs<br />
• Broken welds<br />
• Excessive rust<br />
