If he should succeed in drawing <strong>the</strong> attenti<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> more able men to<br />

what he c<strong>on</strong>ceives to be <strong>the</strong> principal difficulty in <strong>the</strong> way to <strong>the</strong><br />

improvement <strong>of</strong> society and should, in c<strong>on</strong>sequence, see this difficulty<br />

removed, even in <strong>the</strong>ory, he will gladly retract his present opini<strong>on</strong>s and<br />

rejoice in a c<strong>on</strong>victi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> his error.<br />
