PROPERTY, PLANT AND EQUIPMENT (cont’d) Included in property, plant and equipment are assets acquired under hire purchase arrangements for the Group with a net book value of RM46,845 (2000 : RM52,148). The leasehold land and buildings of the Group and of the Company revalued in 1990 and 1996 on an open market value basis are now carried at deemed cost as permitted by MASB Standard No. 15, Property, Plant and Equipment. The tax effect in connection with the surplus arising from the revaluation of freehold land and buildings and leasehold land and buildings is not disclosed as there is no intention to dispose off these properties in the foreseeable future. 4.
