Track noise, train loading noise, CHPP continuum and an impact noise were also noted. These sources resulted in a Mangoola Coal only L Aeq of 30 dB. A surge in engine continuum generated the Mangoola Coal only L A1,1min of 35 dB. Insects and frogs generated the measured levels. Cows were also noted. 34 12509_R02.doc Page 34
6 SUMMARY Global Acoustics was engaged to conduct an attended noise survey around Mangoola Coal, an open cut coalmine near Wybong in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. The purpose of this noise survey is to quantify and describe the acoustic environment around the site and compare results with limits specified in the consent. Environmental noise monitoring described in this report was undertaken during the day period of 26 October, the evening of 16 October and night periods of 15/16 October 2012. As shown in Section 4 of this report, Mangoola Coal complied with the relevant day, evening and night consent L Aeq(15 minute) noise limits and night L A1(1 minute) noise limits, where applicable, at all sites during Quarter 4 2012 monitoring. None the 15 measurements occurred during which Mangoola Coal was measurable and where meteorological conditions resulted in criteria applying (in accordance with the project approval).
