6 SUMMARY 6.1 Summary Global Acoustics was engaged to conduct an attended noise survey around Mangoola Coal, an open cut coalmine near Wybong in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. The purpose of this noise survey is to quantify and describe the acoustic environment around the site and compare results with limits specified in the consent. Environmental noise monitoring described in this report was undertaken during the day period of 12 April, the evening of 2 April and night period of 3/4 April 2012. As shown in Section 4, Mangoola Coal complied with the relevant day, evening and night consent L Aeq(15 minute) noise limits and night L A1(1 minute) noise limits, where applicable, at all sites during Quarter 2 2012 monitoring.
