Primary Summer Camp 2013
Yaaaaay! Summer fun is just around the corner! CMS
Summer Camp is scheduled from June 24 to August 9.
We have prepared a program of exciting and fun activities.
Read the fascinating facts about each week of camp on
the reverse side of this page. It will be a great summer!
Please plan your weeks carefully as there will be no refunds
due to staffing requirements. Space is limited, so please
return the registration form as soon as possible. In the event
that our summer programs are full, registration is on a first
come, first serve basis. Priority will be given to families
requesting the full 7 weeks. To help with the transition, there
will be a “MEET & GREET” with the teachers on Friday, June
21 before summer camp begins from 9:00am to 9:20am.
Children are to bring their own healthy, balanced lunch in
a small soft-sided lunch bag. Cold water is served.
Snacks of obvious sugar and/or fat content and low
nutritional value will be returned home. Containers need
to be opened easily by the child. Refrigeration or heating
of food is not available.
On the first day of school, your child should bring a change of
clothes to be kept at school. Please bring a swimsuit and towel
labeled with the child's name. There will be water play for
"cooling off" throughout the summer.

Our Summer Camp themes are:
Primary Summer Camp 2013
(Ages 2.6 - Kindergarten)
Week 1, June 24 - June 28: Outrageous Outdoor Fun
Throw on your bathing suit, old clothes, slather on the sun screen and scoot the kids
outside for a week of outrageous outdoor fun! Give your child a chance to explore their
creative side out in the fresh air being entertained with hands on activities and getting
messy! We will explore Water Play, Art, Botany, Sports and Science through the great
outdoors!
Week 2, July 1 - 3 (3 days): Red, white, and blue!
Let’s celebrate our Independence Day! We will learn the meaning of our 4 th of July.
With banners, flags, patriotic games, red, white and blue art projects, and music, the
kids will learn about the history that is behind all the festivities.
Week 3, July 8 - 12: Calling All Mad Scientists
Calling all mad scientists! Come join us for a wacky week of crazy science. This week
will be filled with incredible hands on discovery and group experiments. Your child will
learn about the three states of matter through fun, exciting, hands-on activities. Be
prepared to get gooey and icky sticky. Get ready to set off and test volcanoes too!
Week 4, July 15 - 19: Cooking
Time to get cooking! This week will be filled with a delicious combination of cooking
from around the world, nutrition and culture. The children will be preparing their lunch
each day while having lessons that are accompanied by music, art and discussion. Bon
appetite!! **(Note: There will be an additional $10.00 fee for the purchase of
ingredients and supplies.) Please advise the teachers of any food allergies.
Week 5, July 22 - 26: Aloha
Aloha ‘Aina means “love of the land.” Hawaiians consider it to mean profound respect
for Hawaii and the care taken to protect the Islands. Come explore the wonders of
Hawaii through food, art and culture.
Week 6, July 29 - August 2: Ecology Art
Come join us to discover the source of everything we use. Using songs, stories and
creative hands on projects the children will learn about ecology. Together they will
repurpose ordinary items into extraordinary works of art that students can share with
their families and friends.
Week 7, August 5 - 9: Famous Artists
Come along as we get to know some of the world’s most famous artists. Learn about
what it was like for them growing up, about where they lived, and how they began their
careers as artists. We will explore the different styles and mediums they used and be
inspired to create our own masterpieces!
