4. Rouge bullet misses Linkside woman while sleeping
A LINKSIDE woman narrowly escaped death after a bullet exploded through her bed room window
while she was sleeping during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Atlas operations manager Monty Montgomery who assessed the scene said that the lady was lucky to
be alive. "It looks like a stray bullet broke the glass and skimmed over her while she was sleeping," he
said. "She is really very lucky that the bullet did not hit her."
Montgomery said that at this stage it is not known from where the bullet came from.
"We found the head of the bullet and it looks like a pistols," he said. "If that bullet hit her it would be
one of the most bizarre incidents I have ever seen."
Police were called to the scene and are investigating the matter.
It is thought that the bullet came from the nearby field.
Montgomery said that under the circumstances he did not think it was a robbery as no signs of forced
entry were seen.
5. Brazen S/End burglars return to house
A SOUTH End townhouse homeowner recently installed an Atlas alarm after receiving prompt and
efficient service following his house being ransacked.
The owner of the townhouse returned home in the evening and found his place burgled prompting him
to call Atlas and the police. At the time the residence was not an Atlas client.
Response officer Nicki Putter arrived on the scene and searched the nearby bush. The police dog unit
was also called to the scene and searched the bush however the suspects had already fled. "The man
does not have an alarm so I gave him my cellphone number to call me should the thieves come back,"
said Putter. "I withdrew and started my patrols when the man called about an hour later saying the
guys had come back and that he could hear them in the house."
At the time Putter was attending to another priority complaint and sent a colleague to the scene.
"When we arrived first and found the man's bags packed and next to the door," said Putter. "We got to
the house just before they tried to take the bags and goods."
After an extensive search no one was found. A case of house breaking is being investigated.
