First Earth Day Fun Fair a blast
On April 29, Moses DeWitt hosted its rst
annual Earth Day Fun Fair. Our students had an
opportunity to learn more about taking care of
our environment through recycling, gardening,
composting, and understanding the impact we
each have on the Earth. We had visitors from
OCCRA, SU’s Save the Rain Project, and Energy
Smart Communities. The Earth Day Fun Fair was
followed by a special schoolwide assembly by the
Hill Brothers titled “Mama Earth.” Moses DeWitt
students and staff had a great time singing along
with the Hill Brothers.
Class helps California third-graders
collect letters from students in all 50 states
Students in Ms. Alex Bowe’s third-grade
class were asked to participate in the “Great
American Mail Race.” The purpose of the
race was to collect letters from classrooms in
each of the 50 states. Students at Oak Grove
Elementary School in Aliso Viejo, Calif.,
contacted Ms. Bowe’s class and asked them to
send a letter from New York. Ms. Bowe’s class
obliged and sent a letter back to Ms. Laroche
and her students. At left is a picture of Ms.
Bowe’s class with their letter.
Spring brings things to celebrate,
from a visiting author to digging for
diamonds to the rising class of 2024
Tedd Arnold, author and illustrator,
visited Tecumseh, Jamesville, and Moses
DeWitt schools this spring. He was
a BIG hit with kids as he described
how he gets ideas for books. He
demonstrated his illustrating skills and
walked students through the process of
writing, editing and publishing a book.
The students were enthralled!
Our fourth-grade students recently had a
wonderful time searching for treasures at the
Herkimer Diamond Mines. No one seemed
to strike it rich, but it was a great learning
experience.
Kindergarten bus roundup was a great success at Tecumseh
this year. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped
orient our class of 2024 to the world of transportation.
