A new organizational Structure for our Parish Council.
Our Parish Council Members met last Tuesday evening to consider a plan of renewal. Under this plan areas of our
parish’s life and mission (ministries, sacraments, prayer, liturgy, social events, spiritual formation, administration,
governance, finance stewardship, youth, religious education for children, family and adult formation, and all
others) will be grouped under “umbrella” commissions for a greater voice, communication, direction and the
ability to develop and implement ideas to make our parish more effective for our members. The Council name
will be changed to “Parish Mission and Vision” to better reflect our work and identity. The commissions will
include many people who perhaps have never been involved formally in parish life, but will be asked to
participate as a member of a commission to help further our parish’s response to our people’s needs. When
those being asked are called, please say “yes” to being part of these new efforts. Plans are for a training session
in September for the entire “Mission and Vision” members, whose ranks will also be swelled to achieve more
diversity and inclusion of parish members, and for all the members of the new commissions, to understand their
role in parish life, how all the parts of this structure relate to each other and the overall mission of our parish.
More details will unfold over these summer months.
Church Seating for Young Parents with Children
Soon you will see a section in the Church reserved and geared especially for families with children. Please be
respectful and supportive of this reserved area, to make it easier for our young parents to attend our liturgy with
their babies and family. This idea came about after watching some of these families using the extra side pews,
being easier to slide in to them with children. As we attract more younger families, a very good thing for our
parish, we want to be accommodating, helpful, and as welcoming and hospitable as possible.
Seating for Special Needs Parish Members
At present we have two seating areas for those requiring special assistance in and out of a pew, or more room
because of a wheelchair or other mobility device, but now that our new accessibility section in the front of church
has been in use and we have gotten use to it, it provides more space, an easier view of the altar, and greater ease
of use, and with those reasons in mind, eventually that will be the dedicated area for those needing assistance,
and the place where Communion will be brought by Ministers.
Our Refurbished Holy Family Shrine
Now that our original wood carved images have been placed together as the Holy Family, and the former areas
that displayed the images of Joseph and Mary have been refurbished, you will soon see some paint and
decoration to enhance this design.
Our New Chandeliers Have Arrived
As mentioned in prior bulletins, they are part of the short term improvements to our church and worship space
planned by our Church Study Group. They will improve our church’s lighting and aesthetics and we hope they are
attractive and pleasing to you. If you like them, Father LoBianco found them and asked the committee what they
thought of them. If you don’t like them, the committee chose them. (just teasin’!)
Thank You to our Greeters for Hospitality Weekend
Many thanks to Marge Naegele and Joe Marley and our crew of Greeters for hosting the coffee and treats after
all the Masses last weekend. Their Ministry is a wonderful addition to our parish family and their plan is to do this
once a month, to invite all to get to know other parish members and enjoy each other’s company after our
Masses. Next time they host we’ll be looking for you, so please stick around and enjoy this treat for our parish
family.
The Great Feast of Pentecost will be here next Sunday. It’s actually not a “Feast” but ranks on the Church
calendar as a “Solemnity” (the highest form of liturgical celebration) and rightly so because it commemorates the
birthday of our Church, the giving of the “Spirit” to be with us always, bringing the presence and love of our
Father and Son and guiding our mission as God’s Church on earth and the people of God. May the Spirit bring
gifts and blessings in abundance to our parish’s life, work, and mission.
Summer is here, finally—enjoy!
Gratefully,
Father LoBianco
